Who We Are Looking For We are hiring an experienced networking rock-star able to hit the ground running as a Senior Network Systems Engineer. This position is full-time and located in the UK, preferably within close proximity to our London area Data Centres. Due to export control restrictions applicants must be a UK Citizen (Visa holders are unfortunately not eligible) and be able to satisfy BPSS background screening. Candidates with SC clearance are preferred. You will play a critical role in designing and implementing complex network systems and virtualization architectures to meet the evolving technology needs of our company and clients. This position requires a deep understanding of network infrastructure, routing and switching protocols, virtualization technologies, network related cyber security, Windows and Linux systems, other emerging technologies, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. What You Will Be Responsible For Network Design and Planning: Own, design, develop, and implement network solutions that align with client requirements and industry best practices Create comprehensive network architecture plans for both existing and new projects Incorporate efficient network design for disaster recovery failover scenarios Work with network providers for all office locations, Co-Location facilities and datacenters on various projects Network Management and Optimization: Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize for network performance and reliability by identifying and resolving bottlenecks, optimizing configurations, and implementing network automation where applicable Manage the AWS cloud hybrid network topology Provide routine reporting on network utilization metrics to senior management Virtualization Platform Management and Planning: Serve as the subject matter expert for the companys virtualization technology design, support, and road map Provide routine reporting on virtualization metrics to senior management Security Integration: Ensure network security by designing and implementing robust security protocols, firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and encryption mechanisms Must have expertise in managing Cisco firewalls, Palo Alto host-based firewalls, Palo Alto WAF, SD-WAN technologies specifically CATO CATO and Cisco VPN clients and technologies Participate in all security event escalations and triage with the wider team Stay updated on the latest cybersecurity threats and best practices Provide routine reporting on security metrics to senior management Capacity Planning: Monitor network performance and conduct capacity planning exercises to ensure that network resources are efficiently utilized and scalable to meet future needs Evaluate on-prem and cloud-based compute and storage requirements and monitor for growth Work with the Director of ITS and Hosting to develop network roadmap and budget for future Provide routine reporting on capacity metrics to senior management Evaluate and select network hardware and software vendors and manage relationships with suppliers to ensure optimal performance and cost-effectiveness Work effectively with network support vendors for quick resolution Work closely with cross-functional teams, including software developers, DevOps teams, system administrators, and security experts, to integrate network solutions seamlessly into the overall IT infrastructure Effectively participate in staff calls when reviewing various IT domains, provide the network summary reports to management Documentation: Maintain detailed documentation of network designs, configurations, and processes to ensure transparency and facilitate troubleshooting and knowledge sharing Emerging Technologies: Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies in networking, cloud computing, and virtualization, and assess their applicability to improve the company’s network infrastructure. What You Need to Have Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience. Due to Export control requirements candidates must be UK Nationals who are able to travel to the Data Centres in the London area as required. Ability to satisfy Security Clearance is essential. Proven experience as a Network Engineer/Architect or similar role, ideally with at least 5-7 years of relevant experience. Expert knowledge of network protocols, technologies, and modern topologies, including LAN, WAN, VPN, SD-WAN, and cloud networking. Expertise in network security principles and technologies, including firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPNs, and access control. Proficiency in network design and visualization tools (e.g., Cisco, Juniper, CATO, or similar). Experience with network automation and scripting (e.g., Python, Terraform, Ansible) is a plus. Industry certifications such as AWS, Linux, CCIE, CISSP, or equivalent are highly desirable. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and teamwork abilities. Project management experience is a plus. Candidates should have the flexibility to participate in the On Call Support rota for our UK customer, which usually necessitates being available to provide remote assistance 2 weeks in every month.
