Financial Data Analyst (Remote – Washington, DC Area) (Must have ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance) Salary : $115,000 to $135,00 ** Candidates must reside or intend to reside in or near the Washington, DC metropolitan area* The position is expected to be generally remote with some customer visits in the Washington, DC metropolitan area as needed. Purpose: This position analyzes financial data and assesses program performance, budget shortfalls, and potential cost-saving measures. Direction and Decision Making: Reports to our client – the FAA Office of Budget and Programs. The Office of Budget and Programs develops FAA budget requests and provides budget justifications to the Department of Transportation Budget and Performance Office, the Office of Management and Budget, and various House and Senate committees. Specifically, it:
- Develops agency budgetary policies, standards, systems, and procedures for multi-year programming, budget estimates and justifications, allowances, allotments and apportionments, and special budget controls.
- Oversees OMB Circular A-76, Performance of Commercial Activities for the agency,
- Provides audit liaison services between the Office of the Inspector General, and the General Accountability Office, and
- Ensures performance goals results are accurately documented and reported in both the DOT Performance and Accountability Report (PAR) and the FAA PAR.
Primary Responsibilities: Financial Data Analysis : Utilize your expertise to analyze financial data from various sources, including budget reports, expenditure records, and program performance metrics, to identify trends, patterns, and areas of improvement. B udget Shortfall Identification : Identify budget shortfalls by analyzing financial reports and forecasting potential funding gaps. Collaborate with program managers and stakeholders to develop strategies for addressing and mitigating these shortfalls. Reporting and Presentation: Prepare detailed reports and presentations summarizing financial analysis, program performance assessments, and cost-saving recommendations. Communicate findings in a clear and concise manner to both internal and external stakeholders. Data Visualization: Assist in the design and development of financial reporting dashboards, including identifying relevant performance metrics, to evaluate the effectiveness of federal government programs, operational efficiency, and outcome achievement. Processes Improvement: Identify opportunities for streamlining financial processes and enhancing data accuracy, while collaborating with relevant stakeholders to implement process improvements, update financial procedures, and effectively communicate Compliance and Regulations : Stay up to date with federal regulations, budget appropriations, and financial policies to ensure that all analyses and recommendations align with relevant guidelines and standards. Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate closely with government executives and program managers to understand their requirements, gather necessary data, and ensure effective communication of financial insights and recommendations. Continuous Improvement: Continuously seek opportunities to enhance financial analysis methodologies, tools, and processes to improve efficiency, accuracy, and the overall value of the analysis, including maintenance of comprehensive documentation of financial analysis methodologies and findings. - Bachelor’s degree and minimum of 10 years relevant experience OR Master’s degree and 6 years relevant experience.
