ASRC Federal is seeking a Flight Data & Records Management Data Analyst to convert historical NASA flight data into a new, metadata-driven format for continued use by NASA engineers and researchers and to identify data to be transferred to the National Archives. This position will work closely with NASA Civil Service and Contractor staff to fill in any gaps in these historical records and with the flight data management tool teams to identify bugs and suggest improvements.
This role is located at NASA Armstrong Flight Research Center on Edwards Air Force Base, near Palmdale/Lancaster, CA. As a part of this team, you will be required to work a 9/80 schedule with typical hours of 7:30am-5:00pm.
Responsibilities:
Develop an inventory of projects and files for conversion progress tracking.
Identify metadata associated with each data set.
Consult with various stakeholders and subject matter experts to categorize data and retention requirements.
Research flight data records to identify potential stakeholders.
Work with the records management office to identify and differentiate between records, electronic copies, and non-records.
Organize and prepare data files to be transferred to the National Archives Records Administration.
Facilitate all record transfers and dispositioning.
Provide regular project status reports.
Provide feedback to flight data conversion and repository developers.
Requirements:
Associate degree in information technology, or related field with at least 2 years of related work experience; 4 years of work experience may be substituted for the degree requirement.
Ability to obtain and maintain a government issued security clearance.
Strong written and verbal communications skills with an ability to communicate to all levels of the organization with both internal and external customers.
Ability to develop, and work to, a schedule of tasks/milestones, while being able to adapt to changing priorities or resource availability.
Basic experience with UNIX/Linux command line and file system navigation.
Desired Skills:
Prior experience processing data in CMP4 or HDF5 format.
Experience with records management concepts, preferably NASAs records management program.
Working knowledge of telemetry data.
Use of Microsoft Windows and Linux operating systems.
Basic programming in HTML, XLM, C, or C#.
Physical Requirements:
Mobility to work in a typical office setting, use standard office equipment including a computer and keyboard; vision to read printed materials, correspondence and a computer screen; Position may involve frequent standing, walking, pushing, pulling, bending, reaching and lifting (may range from 10-50lbs on a regular basis)
May require periodic schedule shifts or pre-approved additional hours to coordinate work with subject matter experts.
