How will you make an impact?

As part of Thermo Fisher Scientific, Digital Science Solutions (DSS) Business Unit working on Connect Enterprise platform, the Product Owner, will be accountable for requirements gathering, for defining Stories and prioritizing the agile team’s backlog items to meet release commitments. You have a meaningful role in quality control and is the only agile team member empowered to accept stories as done.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Requirements Gathering: Elicit, analyze, and document product requirements.
  • Product Backlog Management: Maintain the product backlog, ensure a clear understanding of business needs and objectives. Plan releases and set priorities for each Iteration/Sprint.
  • Break down epics into user stories and define acceptance criteria.
  • Champion productive collaboration and proactive engagement with Product Management, Engineering leaders, System architects, and agile teams to derive business requirements, crafting a comprehensive product backlog for the designated product capabilities.
  • Work closely with fellow Product Owners on multi-team features.
  • Communicate inter-team dependencies efficiently with Release train engineer and scrum master.
  • Ensure preparedness for program increment events such as PI Planning, Inspect and Adapt, and System or PI demo
  • Actively participate in all the team meetings, including the Daily Stand-up, Iteration Planning, Iteration Review, and Iteration Retrospective.

Education/Experience

  • BS degree desired in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field.
  • 7+ years related experience in software development.
  • 3+ years of related product owner experience in Healthcare, Life Sciences, Biotechnology or Clinical domains.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Must have prior software development experience as a Product Owner, Product Manager or Business Analyst, delivering projects using Java, .NET, or similar language/web-frameworks.
  • Proficiency in acquiring or swiftly developing business and industry insights, coupled with competence in crafting innovative techno-functional solutions.
  • Experience in Software-as-a-Service, and cloud-based platform development.
  • Proficient in applying the SDLC and QMS processes for the creation of GxP compliant software products.
  • Exposure to multiple scientific applications, and wet lab methods/SOPs.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Agile/Scrum development methodology. Experience with Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) certifications a plus (POPM).
  • Exceptional social skills, including teamwork, facilitation, and negotiation.
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills, ability to synthesize requirements from primary and secondary sources
