The Software Engineer is a member of a Software Development Team.  This position supports all facets of Software Development including programming, system design, code review, design review, unit testing, and integration testing. 

A day in the Life:

  • Hands on Software Development of Thermo Fisher Scientific’s software products.
  • Participate as a team member on product release projects.
  • Work with Support to address customer issues.
  • Optimally apply project methodology and standards.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Keys to Success:

  • 5+ years of experience in .NET and C#. Windows Forms and Services.
  • Proficient in security standard methodologies.
  • Comfortable with and effective at expressing and exchanging ideas, concepts and designs in a group setting.
  • Comfortable working within an international team.
  • The candidate should have a track record of achievement and delivering on significant responsibilities in a timely fashion.
  • Requires little supervision.
  • Flexible during times of change.
  • Comfortable with working in a multifaceted, flexible environment.
  • Additional qualifications designated by the hiring manager.

Education:

  • Master’s degree, or equivalent work experience, in the IT industry.
  • A college degree, preferably related to engineering or software development.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • 5+ years of experience in .NET including C#.
  • Experience developing commercial software products.
  • Experience working within a distributed, international team
  • Shown understanding of Microsoft and Oracle software technologies in the desktop application, client-server, n-tier and/or networking sectors, including .NET.
  • 1+ years experience in an applicable business domain (LIMS, Chromatography, Pharmaceutical R&D, laboratory).
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • 5+ years of team software development with solid understanding of unit testing, source code control, defect tracking, and version management.
