We are seeking a skilled and motivated Senior Data Analyst to join the New York All Payer Database team. We are seeking an individual that will support the operations of the Statewide Planning and Research Cooperative System (SPARCS) subject area of the New York All Payer Database (APD). This role will coordinate the solution approach for SPARCS projects, support client interactions, and engage both hospitals and support vendors to facilitate the timely and accurate processing of patient-level detail on patient characteristics, diagnoses, and treatments, services, and charge information from all New York licensed hospitals. This job requires knowledge of healthcare claims particularly the X12 837R, data processing operations, and data analysis, the ability to triage issues quickly and coordinate effective solutions. This is an operational role accountable for data management from New York State hospitals, actively coordinating SPARCS related projects, and interfacing with the New York Department of Health. This role will lead a services team working in a resource matrix environment and will develop solutions to address business requirements and issues. Primary Responsibilities: Monitor day to day operations of the SPARCS Intake System including incident reports, defect tracking and resolution, extract generation, and maintenance and release activities Serve as a key resource on complex and/or critical issues Solves complex problems and develops innovative solutions Perform complex data analysis primarily in SQL to support operations Collaborate with stakeholders, SPARCS PM and team members to document and deliver ad-hoc data needs and special projects Interpret, analyze, and provide recommendations regarding data accuracy and data collection needs and processes Proactively assess and identify opportunities to enhance existing and to develop new data collection and reporting solutions Provide explanations and information to others on complex system functions and issues You’ll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in. Required Qualifications: 5+ years of data management and analytics experience in a matrixed organization 5+ years of SQL experience querying Oracle databases at an intermediate to advanced level 3+ years of experience with X12 transactions with focus on the 837R, 999, and 277CA transactions. Experience should include the ability to evaluate the transaction, understand dependencies, and troubleshoot issues 3+ years knowledge of healthcare claims, member enrollment, and transaction management 3+ years of working with large healthcare data sets to research issues and report on operations Proven solid knowledge of relational databases, data marts and data warehouses Proven ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions Proven ability to effectively communicate findings clearly and concisely in writing and verbally to both technical and non-technical audiences Preferred Qualifications: Experience with Hospital/Facility claims Experience using Optum Transaction Validation Manager (OTVM) Knowledge of Health Care Industry and related business functions *All Telecommuters will be required to adhere to UnitedHealth Group’s Telecommuter Policy California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, or Washington Residents Only: The salary range for this role is $88,000 to $173,200 annually.
