IT Security Manager

with a focus on schools, after-school care and daycare centers (m/f/d)

The Office for Schools is responsible for the City of Leipzig’s municipal schools and is therefore responsible for external school matters such as school network planning, school building construction, maintenance and management in order to ensure proper teaching.
The Finance and Administration department is responsible for financial management and processing as well as internal administrative processes including administrative IT for the Office for Schools. The associated IT School and Core Administration department focuses on the IT of the core and school administrations as well as tasks relating to procurement, registries and certificate archives.

What you can expect

As an IT security manager, you will be the contact person for over 200 institutions (schools, after-school care centers and daycare centers) in Leipzig. Your tasks will include, among other things

  • Further development of the information security management system for the IT security sub-area in collaboration with internal city partners
  • Carrying out structural and risk analyses and determining protection requirements in accordance with BSI specifications and defining security measures with IT service providers
  • Advising, guiding and supporting the specialist departments with a focus on schools, after-school care and daycare centers, including the implementation of IT security requirements and the integration of IT security into existing processes and procedures
  • Technical management of IT security projects for the implementation of technical security measures, including preparation of implementation planning, evaluation of implementation alternatives and success monitoring
  • Demand-oriented support for the city administration’s information security management team
  • Survey of IT vulnerabilities and design of technical and organizational measures to eliminate or minimize risks

What you bring with you

  • University degree in computer science, IT security, cyber security or a comparable degree related to IT
  • At least three years’ experience in the field of information security, ideally in the school sector
  • sound knowledge in the field of information security, including BSI standards and the IT Security Act, as well as a willingness to undergo regular further training
  • Knowledge of data protection regulations desirable
  • Good conceptual and analytical skills as well as organizational talent
  • A structured and results-oriented way of working
  • a service-oriented demeanor, strong social and problem-solving skills and good assertiveness
