About the Role: CrowdStrike is looking for a Network Operations Engineer with advanced technical skills in networking, systems, tooling, and automation, to join the Network Reliability Operations team. You will be responsible for supporting and improving network operations for our hyper-scale hybrid cloud network, driving efficiency and reliability, in a fast-paced and constantly scaling environment. The right candidate thrives in diving into operational issues, both from a networking and systems perspective, in order to find the best technical solutions and long term prevention. You are a technology driven individual, continuously learning and expanding your subject matter knowledge. What You’ll Do: Be the subject matter expert on all things related to network operations and maintaining a high-performance and fault-tolerant production network at-scale Perform deep dives on complex technical issues across networks, ranging from systems/services to hardware failures and network issues Improve the reliability and efficiency of network operations and practices. Develop and improve processes, and transform them into highly scalable and automated workflows Support the development, testing and integration of new hardware and software platforms Participate in and improve escalations and incident response. Own the full incident lifecycle including post mortems to address issues and prevent future occurrences Leverage in depth metrics and telemetry to improve awareness and response, anticipate potential operational risks, and develop strategies to mitigate and prevent. Manage and evolve the data over time to match changes to the infrastructure and business needs, reduce costs and continuously improve engineering efficiency Build cross-functional relationships across Network Engineering, TechOps and the various service partners we support, to continue to deliver the best network operations experience possible Participate in 24×7 on-call rotation What You’ll Need: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or work-related discipline/field from an accredited college or university. Equivalent field experience considered. 5+ years of experience in building and maintaining large scale, complex data center network infrastructure Comfort working in a fast moving organization and enjoy digging into operational problems in order to implement the process enhancement and technical solutions to solve them, and are able to quickly learn and pick up new domain expertise and technologies Extensive experience troubleshooting the Linux network stack and various service-related network issues In depth hands-on experience using packet capture tools (tcpdump, wireshark…etc), and analyzing the results, to assist/expedite the troubleshooting of network issues Experience working with a global team to collaborate and manage operations around the clock 5+ years of experience working with large scale IP networking technologies and protocols such as: BGP, OSPF, ISIS, VRF, VxLAN, eVPN, QoS, GRE, IPSec, DNS, MACsec, MPLS (TE, Auto-BW), and CLOS Architectures Hands-on experience with infrastructure-as-code using tools such as Python, Ansible, YAML, or Netconf/YANG, Chef, Puppet Proficient with various networking vendors such as Arista, Palo Alto, Juniper, Adva, Nokia, Cisco, HP, etc. Bonus Points: Work experience in data center, telecom, SaaS, or cloud operations companies Ability to communicate technical detail into succinct and fact-based business terminology, both verbally and in writing Customer-focused mindset, with demonstrated skill in managing expectations, providing proactive status updates, and producing high-quality work products. Ability to use independent judgment to make sound, justifiable decisions and take action to solve problems Ability to plan, organize and prioritize work independently and meet deadlines
