AWS Cloud Engineer (remote) at Knowledge Services #vacancy #remote

Overview:

Knowledge Services is seeking a remote AWS Cloud Engineer for a 6-month contract (potential for extension and/or contract to hire opportunity). This role will work remotely on CST hours.

Please note that we cannot consider any third-party candidates, those requiring C2C, or anyone requiring sponsorship for a work visa.

Responsibilities:

AWS Cloud Engineer Responsibilities:

This project is in the process of migrating off of an on-prem, heavy-weight, commercial integration middleware technology that has been positioned to support event-driven (pub/sub, message-based) integration use cases – primarily between its corporate ERP systems and factory/distribution center operational systems (ex: Manufacturing, Warehouse Management, Quality Management, and automated industrial systems).

The legacy Oracle SOA integration platform is being replaced by a modern platform built upon cloud-native, distributed services which will include AWS Lambda, SQS, ECS, and DynamoDB. A high-level blueprint has been established, upon which this engagement will execute against (and be refined/improved as needed).

Replacement solution is expected to be commercialized alongside other digital solutions (following a SaaS-based delivery model) via the customer’s digital labs organization.

Consultant will work with customer’s team (integration architect, cloud platform engineers, product teams) to begin the transformation off of legacy integration platform to the new cloud-based platform.

Qualifications:

AWS Cloud Engineer Requirements:

5+ years of experience working with Python programming language and able to apply this experience towards building integration service components using cloud-based infrastructure (ex: exposing/consuming REST APIs, interacting with traditional RDBS technologies including Oracle and SQL server, bridging the gap between cloud native vs. legacy technology integration).

Must have AWS server less development and Integration development.
Proven track record delivering event-based integrations using AWS cloud services (Lambda, SQS, ECS, API Gateway, DynamoDB) at a highly-scalable and global level (has integrated mission-critical systems spanning many geographies including Americas, Europe, and Asia)
Versed in AWS well architected framework and able to promote resiliency and failure management aspects (rollback / retry / auto-recovery / self-healing capabilities) for mission-critical, event-driven system integrations
Strong technical coach/mentor/guide for other product team developers transitioning from building/supporting legacy integration components (using commercial integration middleware tools and “database centric” architecture – ex: PL/SQL stored procedures, polling database tables) towards a more modern architecture using cloud-based, serverless technologies.
Ideal candidate “leads by example” to help customer skill up existing product team developers and provides feedback for ways to further cultivate talent in areas needed to build/grow the new integration platform and complementary capabilities (delivering digital solutions on cloud-based platforms)
Infrastructure as code (terraform, CDK, cloud formation) knowledge and experience is preferred, including experience using AWS SDK (anticipate needing to dynamically provision/update/destroy cloud infrastructure components used by integrations as part of the new solution architecture)
