We seek a skilled back-end engineer in Portugal to work remotely and join our dynamic team playing a pivotal role in revolutionizing aquaculture. To apply for this job, you should be based in Portugal and have a valid work permit or Portuguese citizenship
As a member of the IOT team, you will manage backend integrations to external third-party applications, improving operational efficiency. Your primary data source will be an IoT platform, which presents exciting challenges related to real-time data streams and artificial intelligence.
Responsibilities:
- Software Development: Lead the design and development of visualizations and dashboards that transform real-time data from the IoT platform into actionable insights for farmers.
- User Interface Design: Collaborate closely with designers to create an intuitive and user-friendly interface. Ensure a seamless and engaging experience for users interacting with aquaculture data.
- Real-time Data Integration: Work on the challenges associated with real-time data streams, implementing solutions that provide timely and accurate information to enhance decision-making.
- AI Integration: Collaborate with the back-end team to integrate AI outputs into visualizations, providing farmers with insights on optimizing fish growth.
Main requirements
- Be based in Portugal and have a Portuguese Work permit;
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field;
- Proven experience as a Backend Engineer, focusing on third-party integrations and IOT systems.
- Strong proficiency in at least one programming language, such as NodeJS or Python3;
- Experience working with real-time data streams and understanding the challenges associated with presenting dynamic information. Knowledge of working with IoT platforms and extracting meaningful insights from sensor data;
- Experience working with full-stack engineering, particularly in building GraphQL endpoints;
- Hands-on experience with AWS services such as EC2, Lambda, S3, RDS, DynamoDB, etc.
- Expertise in containerization and orchestration tools like Docker and Kubernetes.
- Solid understanding of relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB).
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or in a team environment.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Nice to have
- Experience with IOT systems and message brokers is a plus.
