Job Description:
Job Roles & Responsibilities:
- Required Skill 1: NGS analysis (RNAseq, WES, etc.)
- Required Skill 2: python and R
- Required Skill 3: oncology background, especially in cancer biology, tumor dependencies, signaling pathways
- Required Skill 4: data visualization, technical problem solving
- Required Skill 5: good communication skills
What years of experience, education, and/or certification is required?
- PhD. Degree in bioinformatics, computational biology, statistics, mathematics, computer science, genomics, cancer biology, immunology, or a related field.
- Master’s degree with typically 3-5 years of experience.
- Bachelor’s degree with typically 6-8 years of experience.
What is a nice to have (but not required) regarding skills, requirements, experience, education, or certification?
- Experience with HPC clusters, cloud compute, docker containers/apptainers or similar
- Version control, github, shell
- Variant calling and somatic copy number estimation from DNA
- CRISPR screens analysis, single cell platforms, proteomics, metabolomics, microarray, etc.
- Predictive modeling, machine learning, statistics

- Half of role is involved in support for oncology discovery teams to perform varied analyses pertaining to target ID and validation, MOA hypothesis generation, biomarker discovery, etc.
- Other half is pertaining to innovative research and methodology development for DNA NGS.

- Prior research work in oncology bioinformatics analysis, either in academia or industry

Project Goal & Project Budget?
- Goal 1: Drug target identification/evaluation for oncology discovery programs
- QC, process, and interpret omics data sets for various discovery programs
- Meet w/ program teams throughout experimental stages, from design to results
- Goal 2: DNA NGS research and method development
- Work with bioinformatic methods development team to research and develop new methods for variant calling and somatic copy number estimation from DNA
Education Background?
- A Ph.D. OR a Masters degree with at least three years of relevant experience OR a bachelor’s degree with six years of experience in bioinformatics, computational biology, computer science, engineering, or cancer biology is required
Therapeutic area discipline?
- Oncology
- Synthetic lethality, tumor intrinsic pathways, cancer genetics, etc.
- Cross functional teams to be interacting with?
- Discovery, Computational Biology/Bioinformatics, Bioinformatic Engineering, IR
- Coding requirements
- R and/or python required
- Docker/Apptainer experience a plus
- Familiarity with AI/ML techniques a plus
Datasets experience?
- In vivo/in vitro cellular biology datasets; cancer patient populations
- CRISPR screens analysis preferred
- Extraction, interpretation, analysis & communication? Yes
- Genomics data? Yes
- Experience processing omics (genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, genotypes, etc) or other high-dimensional data? Yes
