The Data Analyst 2 will support the Optum West Quality Improvement program by designing, developing and maintaining a library of reports, dashboards, and scorecards for Population Health. This person will be experienced with report development on the Microsoft BI stack (e.g. SSRS/Power BI/SSAS) and Python. This person will be adept at translating business requirements into production reports and have a strong understanding of advanced T-SQL and Python concepts. This person will play a key role on the Systems and Innovation team while consistently producing high-quality deliverables with careful attention to detail. This person should have 3+ years of professional business intelligence and reporting experience with a proven track record of success and a passion for technology and applying technology to real business problems. Primary Responsibilities: Under direction of the Optum West Systems and Innovation leadership and in coordination with Optum National Clinical Performance supports the following functions: Design, develop, and maintain Business Intelligence (BI) solutions using Python and the Microsoft platform: SQL Server database, Power BI and SharePoint Establish and maintain strong working relationships with key business partners to meet data, dashboard or reporting needs that will enhance corporate performance Collaborate with PH team and IT to ensure focus on meeting reporting compliance requirements, service requests and roadmap initiatives Be an effective listener who can facilitate requirements gathering from non-technical business personnel translate to IT team Perform analysis of data sources and processes to ensure data integrity, completeness, consistency and accuracy within and across corporate reporting solutions Create, maintain and enhance SSMS queries based on business requirements Produce informative scorecards/dashboards/visuals of analytics using Power BI and Excel Writes queries and stored procedures in SQL and Python, export data into Excel/CSV/XML, review the data for quality and integrity, and send results to internal clients or external agencies/vendors Apply strong testing skills with a high attention to detail for accuracy Identify and facilitate implementation of improvement opportunities Participate in agile development “sprints” to review and prioritize backlogs, identify and resolve impediments, plan releases, etc. Create report mockups and templates from business requirements when necessary Work collaboratively in a small, cross functional team Engage in high severity production incidents and problem tickets Supports research and piloting of new initiatives to assess feasibility and success prior to full scale deployment Consistently supports compliance by maintaining the privacy and confidentiality of information, protecting the assets of the organization, acting with ethics and integrity, reporting noncompliance, and adhering to applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations, accreditation and licenser requirements (if applicable), and current corporate and client policies and procedures Partners with leaders and business lanes across teams on other duties and initiatives as assigned You’ll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in. Required Qualifications: 3+ years of professional experience as a data analyst or similar role 3+ years of combined experience with analysis, development, and testing related to reporting 3+ years of SQL experience with the ability to develop efficient, well-performing queries Experience in Business Intelligence tools Knowledge of ETL processes and development i.e. SSIS or similar Knowledge of data visualization tools like Tableau and/or Power BI Proficiency with Excel Ability to clearly explain technical issues to non-technical audiences Ability to work in standard business hours in PST zone Preferred Qualifications: 3+ years of Python experience Experience in the healthcare industry Experience with CAHPS, Stars, Quality a plus Deep interest and enthusiasm for business intelligence, reporting, data analytics, demonstrated through the delivery of quality BI solutions which are valued by the business Extremely solid SQL programming skills (including complex subqueries, correlated queries, nested queries, functions, etc.) Previous report and dashboard development experience using Power BI Advanced MS Office skills including the ability to create, manipulate and formulate spreadsheets using v-lookup, writing functions and formulas, pivot tables, charts and graphing Ability to work with and calculate mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference Experience with creating SSAS cubes, MDX, data mining, and predictive modeling techniques Experience working with source control (e.g. TFS) and the Agile development methodology Experience deploying reporting solutions in a SharePoint or Smartsheet environment Experience with analyzing and providing resolutions to data inconsistencies or issues found within the data Track record of managing and improving complex processes and very strong organization and problem-solving skills Well-organized, extremely detail oriented with the ability to cross-check work to user specifications Proven track record in working independently without constant supervision Solid prioritization and multi-tasking skills with a track record of meeting deadlines Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic client facing role where delivering solid work products to exceed high expectations is a measure of success Client-facing presence and excellent business acumen Ability to work with people with diverse background (technical and non-technical) while generating ideas and considering different points of view A team player with a solid work ethic *All employees working remotely will be required to adhere to UnitedHealth Group’s Telecommuter Policy California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, or Washington Residents Only: The salary range for this role is $70,200 to $137,800 annually. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with al minimum wage laws as applicable.
