Data Engineer/Architect – Data Migration (Tableau/Alteryx)

Role Overview:

We are in search of a talented and dynamic Data Engineer/Architect to lead a critical project involving the migration of data from Cognos to Tableau/Alteryx. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring seamless data transition, focusing on maintaining integrity, optimizing performance, and meeting project deadlines. Strong technical proficiency in Tableau or Alteryx alongside data engineering/architectural skills is essential for this role.

Responsibilities:

Project Planning and Execution:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive project plan for migrating data from Cognos to Tableau/Alteryx.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure timely execution of project milestones and deliverables.
  • Monitor and report on project progress, identifying and mitigating potential risks.

Technical Oversight:

  • Collaborate with technical teams to ensure smooth data transition while maintaining quality and integrity.
  • Conduct thorough testing to validate accuracy and completeness of migrated data.
  • Work closely with IT and data teams to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.

Stakeholder Management:

  • Act as the primary point of contact for all stakeholders involved in or impacted by the data migration project.
  • Facilitate regular communication and status updates to keep stakeholders informed.
  • Proactively address concerns and manage expectations to ensure stakeholder satisfaction.

Quality Assurance:

  • Implement and oversee quality assurance processes to guarantee accuracy and reliability of data post-migration.
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure migration success.

Documentation and Training:

  • Create comprehensive documentation outlining data migration process, methodologies, and technical details.
  • Provide training and support to end-users for a smooth transition to Tableau/Alteryx.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
  • Proven experience in data engineering/architecture and migration projects, preferably from Cognos to Tableau/Alteryx.
  • Strong technical proficiency in Tableau or Alteryx, with familiarity in data structures, databases, and reporting tools.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management skills with effective communication abilities.
  • Demonstrated leadership in cross-functional teams and project management.
  • Familiarity with data quality assurance and testing methodologies.
  • Certification in Tableau, Alteryx, or project management (e.g., PMP) is advantageous.
