Job Description: The DevOps Engineer is responsible for automating and optimizing development, test and production environments through cloud orchestration. This role involves close collaboration with software developers, NetOps, and other IT staff to manage code releases and deployments. This role reports to the Director of IT Development. Strong preference for location around the Chicago metro area, however will consider all US based candidates. Responsibilities include, but not limited to: Developing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines. Automating workflows and system configurations. Ensuring system reliability and efficiency. Define and deploy monitoring, metrics, and logging systems. Collaborating with software developers, analysts, and other IT staff to oversee code releases or deployments. Troubleshooting and resolving technical issues in the DevOps pipeline. Provide guidance and education to the team on cloud architecture, focusing on how development choices early in the solutioning process will impact scalability and cost-effectiveness of cloud resources. Position Qualifications Knowledge and Skillsets: Strong problem-solving and communication skills. Experience with cloud platforms (AWS & Azure). Vendor management. Knowledge of IT operations best practices. Familiarity with Orchestration/Automation. Experience with CI/CD tools. Ability to keep up with software development trends. Git/Jira Workflow Design (GitHub, GitHub Actions, etc.) Education: BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (preferred) OR completed Azure/AWS certifications. Experience: 3-5 years of experience in IT operations or system administration. Strong background in Linux administration and shell scripting. Experience with automation/configuration management. Proficiency with open-source technologies and cloud services. Experience with SQL, MySQL, NoSQL storage solutions. Compensation & Benefits This opportunity is budgeted at $95,000 – 105,00 base compensation. Additional compensation factors may impact total compensation.
