REMOTE Inpatient Coder Opportunity !!!
Abstracts health information from the medical records and assigns appropriate codes according to nationally recognized guidelines for data retrieval, analysis and claims processing.
Performs tasks like: Analyzing and reviewing medical records for completeness and accuracy according to state, federal and certification requirements; Notifying Medical Staff and hospital personnel of incomplete medical records and deficiencies to be addressed; Assisting physicians with medical record documentation completion; Assisting Medical Record Clerks when department work volume or activity warrants; and Abiding by Standards of Ethical Coding set forth by the American Health Information Management Association and adheres to official coding guidelines.
Requirements
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Active Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Certified Professional Coder (CPC), RHIT or RHIA.
- 2 or more years of either combined educational and work experience
- Proficient in medical terminology, personal computers with a working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel and encoder/grouper software.
HIGHLY PREFERRED:
- Associates or Bachelors Degree
