What we’re looking for from you
Frontend experience
- At least 2+ years of professional experience working as a Frontend Developer.
- Commercial experience with React .
- Experience working with TypeScript .
- Experience working with CSS-in-JS (such as Styled Components) and implementing responsive design.
- Experience working with modern state management libraries, such as Redux/RTK, or Redux Hooks.
- Experience writing unit tests in Jest.
- Plus: Experience working with design systems.
Backend experience
- Backend experience: 1+ year of commercial experience with Java, Spring and microservice s.
- Experience working with Cloud providers, such as AWS.
- Plus: You have worked in a start-up and understand the need to move fast and understand your customers needs.

The Engineering Team at Marshmallow
Our engineers are at the heart of the solutions. They work on product builds from start to finish, solving lots of challenges to help us build fast and scale up! Our engineers cover a range of skills across frontend, backend, full stack, iOS and Android, and work alongside designers, data scientists, researchers and product managers within our product teams.
Our product teams include: the Growth team, the Renewals team and the Claims Tech team (to name a few!). Each team sets its own roadmap and actively pushes our codebase forward.
About our Claims Tech Team youâll be joining
Claims Tech is a distributed team with a strong presence in Budapest and London, with a purpose to revolutionise the claims journey. Our mission is to streamline the claims process, reducing costs, enhancing the customer experience, and empowering our operational team to reach their full potential. We have big ambitions for 2024, thus we are building a second Claims Tech Team in Budapest.
Currently, we are in the process of developing our cutting-edge internal Claims Management System (CMS). This application is designed to seamlessly guide insurance claims from inception to resolution. It handles every facet of the claims process (internal, external, customer-facing), integrating with partners as well as the financial reporting.

Our process
We break it up into 3 stages:
- Initial call with our Tech Talent Acquisition Partner via Zoom (40 mins).
- Full-Stack Technical Interview:
- A live coding technical frontend interview part (45-60 mins) followed by backend focused interview part with technical questions (20 mins) with two of our Engineers from the Frontend and the Backend squad + 10 mins for your questions to our Engineers via Zoom.
- A culture & past experience interview where you will discuss your previous experience with our Engineering Managers to check that your work style fits our processes and values (60 mins).
Weâll let you know if youâre invited to an interview or not. But, as a small team with a lot of applications to consider, we canât give individual feedback on each application.
