This position is 100% remote with minimum travel possible. As a Java Developer, you will contribute to maintaining and enhancing a suite of Java applications and the IBM InfoSphere Master Data Management suite that provide the core interoperability functions between the Defense Manpower Data Center (DMDC) and external agencies. These agencies include the Veterans Administration, the Composite Health Care System (CHCS) and MHS Genesis.
HOW A JAVA DEVELOPER WILL MAKE AN IMPACT: Engage as a member of development team; develop code independently. Develop understanding of complex healthcare business rules and ensure those rules are correctly followed in design documents, specifications, and development. Conduct code reviews for assigned applications and participate in code reviews for other applications in the DIRP suite. Develop understanding of issues involved in producing releases of software components. Contribute suggestions and provide support to the other members of the team. Apply in-depth and broad technical knowledge to diverse technology areas. Design, prepare and execute unit tests. Quickly and effectively resolve issues reported by customers and QA testers. Collaborate with DMDC Enterprise teams. Perform in a fast-paced environment and manage competing priorities WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED – REQUIRED: CLEARANCE : Active Secret clearance CERTIFICATION : DoD IAT Level II certification (i.e. Security+ CE) EDUCATION : Bachelor’s Degree in computer science or a related technical/scientific field OR equivalent work experience in lieu of degree YEAR’S EXPERIENCE : 3 years Java development experience TECHNICAL SKILLS : Knowledge and experience in the following areas: JEE, JDK1.7 & 1.8, JSF, Solid understanding of modern software design and development methodologies. Knowledge and experience with Agile methodology and practices, such as SCRUM and Kanban Knowledge of software configuration management and release management using SVN and Maven Solid understanding of testing tools and unit and integration test scripting, and testing methodologies. Solid knowledge of relational database concepts SKILLS & ABILITIES : Outstanding verbal and written communication skills Ability to apply consistent quality and security standards. The likely salary range for this position is $80,226 – $103,500. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
