The Salesforce lead engineer holds a critical team role in shaping the technical vision of the Salesforce.com platform. The lead engineer brings in-depth insight to allow them to serve as a subject matter expert for Salesforce.com solutions that includes the configuration and customization in an enterprise architecture. This role specifically needs to have complete knowledge of all Salesforce declarative programming and administrative capabilities, including designing, coding, testing, implementing, deploying, debugging and supporting Salesforce integrations, applications and analytics. In Summary, The Lead Engineer Leads Salesforce technology development and testing within Sprints Supports technological development of team members and quality of development and quality assurance Coordinates with product owner and scrum master to deliver features and fixes to customers in-line with product roadmap Essential Duties And Responsibilities Typically leads projects that span multiple teams and influences a defined software engineering roadmap. Typically provides technical leadership for medium-to-high features from technical design through completion Responsible for the technical content (architecture and design), integrity and quality of the solution and accountable for the delivery of the solution Leverages familiarity with tools, technologies utilized internally to proactively share knowledge on own field of specialism. Manage third party providers/ vendors/ contractors in multiple areas of specialty (e.g., work quality feedback, technical specifications) Mentors junior team members Analyzes business problems to design solutions. Implements and tests complex code changes for specific requirements or application/ standalone program. Provides input into technological process/ standards/ methodology for cloud-based configuration; identifies gaps and develops training plans. Provides expertise in the development and implementation of the software development lifecycle, and agile engineering strategies across applicable teams and partners. Articulates design choices based on an expert understanding of market awareness, product adoption, and competition. Innovates new products to address unmet customer needs. Influences and tracks metrics to measure success and adoption. Liaises with business analysts, may present at client meetings to gather and understand client requirements, may present technical point of view. Understands the technical and architectural specifics of Salesforce.com and provides technical leadership and oversight on the delivery team. Provides input to technical approach and work sequencing to minimize technical debt, meet/exceed performance standards, etc. Lead Salesforce development team in developing solutions through collaboration and discussion, ensures stories meet Definition of Ready prior to committing to a Sprint. Ensures unit test code and automated testing scripts are created. Ensures necessary documentation is created; advises other engineers on their documentation. Ensures code reviews and quality assurance processes are followed by the team; represents team during business and release meetings. Collaborates with BFS IT teams, with attention to infrastructure, security, and other technical partners. Ensures product performance is tracked and improved.
