ROLE: Lead Software Developer
LOCATION: Remote
CLEARANCE: Must be a UK Citizen OR have been in the UK for 5 years

Role Overview: We are seeking a talented and experienced Software Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have expertise in a wide range of technologies, including AWS, NodeJS, Java, Docker, Kubernetes, and more. You will play a crucial role in developing and maintaining innovative solutions for our public sector clients, leveraging your skills in AWS and GDS environments. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work collaboratively within an Agile team environment, contributing to the delivery of high-quality software solutions.

Key Skills:

  • Proficiency in AWS services
  • Strong experience with NodeJS, Express, HTML, Nunjucks, and JavaScript
  • Knowledge of Java and Spring frameworks
  • Familiarity with infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform and Ansible
  • Expertise in Docker, Kubernetes, Istio, and Kubectl
  • Experience with version control systems like GitLab and artifact repositories like Nexus
  • Proficient in package managers such as NPM and Maven
  • Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools like Kibana and Kiali
  • Knowledge of messaging systems like Kafka and databases like MongoDB

Role Responsibilities:

  • Utilize your public sector experience to contribute to the development of solutions that meet the unique needs of government clients
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Delivery Managers, Business Analysts, Test Automation Engineers, and Technical Architects
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies such as refinement, estimating, planning, and review sessions
  • Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and improve software applications and services
  • Ensure code quality, performance, and security standards are met throughout the development lifecycle
  • Stay updated on emerging technologies and best practices, sharing knowledge and insights with team members

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Proven experience working in Agile environments, delivering high-quality software solutions
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team setting
  • Experience with AWS and Government Digital Services (GDS) environments preferred
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and requirements in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
