Reporting to the Manager, Applications Development the Machine Learning/NLP Engineer III will be part of a new team designing an application that will optimize the way Availity connects internal data. The overall team of 9 will be responsible for all phases of the application build and will work closely with stakeholders on the requirements. Location: Remote US Why Work On This Team Enhancing data flows and NLP processing to optimize clinical data utilization Thriving in a collaborative environment with exceptionally talented and supportive teammates Collaborate with driven individuals deeply passionate about technology and innovation What You Will Be Doing Design and implement scalable, high-performance software solutions leveraging modern programming languages and frameworks Apply statistical analysis, machine learning, and NLP techniques to extract actionable insights from text-based clinical datasets and unstructured documents Develop and deploy NLP models for tasks such as sentiment analysis, entity recognition, topic modeling, and text summarization Deploy NLP models into production environments, ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance for text processing tasks Develop and maintain APIs, microservices, and other software components to facilitate seamless data integration and accessibility for NLP tasks Conduct exploratory analysis and visualization of text data to uncover patterns, trends, and sentiment analysis Continuously monitor and evaluate NLP model performance, implementing optimizations and enhancements as needed Collaborate with DevOps teams to automate model deployment and monitoring processes for NLP applications Collaborate with software engineers to architect and build systems that enable efficient data collection, processing, and analysis, with a focus on text data Participating in daily stand ups Implementing a backlog of items to fulfill a focused roadmap Working on a team following Agile Scrum principles Requirements 5+ years of progressive work experience designing & developing solutions for business initiatives Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent Strong foundation in data science concepts and techniques, with hands-on experience in statistical analysis, machine learning, and data visualization, particularly in the context of NLP Experience setting up NLP pipelines Experience with NLP libraries/frameworks such as NLTK, spaCy, transformers, or similar Familiarity with text preprocessing techniques and word embeddings for NLP tasks Proven experience in software engineering proficiency with Python Excellent problem-solving skills, critical thinking, and attention to detail Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment Availity Culture And Benefits Availity is a certified “Great Place to Work”, a “Best Workplaces for Technology Companies”, a “Best Workplaces for Women” and a “Best Workplaces for Millennials”!
