Details of Position
TLC teachers specialize in offering an academic English language enrichment program to both native and non-native speakers between the ages of 6 and 18.
We teach online to our students in the Paris region and surrounding suburbs. Our schedules are planned and fixed for the entire academic year (September to June).
Depending on specialism, experience and teachers availabilities, we offer between 10 to 20 hours a week of classes per teacher. Our classes take place mostly between 16:00-20:30 (French time) every evening with all day Wednesday and Saturday possibilities.
We assess our students thoroughly through baseline assessments, annual assessments, and external summative examinations and thus are able to set challenging, clear and achievable goals for our students. We provide all the necessary pedagogy and training for our different programs as well as support for class delivery.
Our students are extremely motivated and committed to learning English to a high standard of proficiency. Those who are native speakers are benchmarked to the British National School Curriculum expectations.
On average, our EFL students achieve:
A2 level by the age of 10
B2 level by the age of 14
C2 level by the age of 18
Our English mother tongue students are able to validate the British Literacy Attainment Targets whereas our EFL students validate their level by taking various curriculum-based Cambridge ESOL exams.
At TLC we place great importance to pronunciation and diction and expect all our teachers to incorporate phonetics in every class they teach.
For teachers who are looking for career opportunities, TLC has put in place a career development path with full time opportunities available to teachers who already work with us. This will be extended to our online teachers as well.
All teachers are expected to teach their classes until the end of June, excluding French school holidays, where they can organise their class prep.
Our school calendar is available on our website for consultation. Teachers hired after the beginning of our school year, which is the first two weeks in the month of September, will be expected to work from the date of their first class until their last scheduled class.
Qualifications
Teachers need to have excellent diction and pronunciation.
Teachers need to have a stable work environment and provide residential address as well as proof of address.
Teachers will need to have a university qualification preferably related to teaching English.
Teachers will need to be TEFL or CELTA trained.
DELTA qualification will be rewarded.
Bachelor of Education (with QTS) or PGCE will be rewarded.
Teachers with experience of ESOL exams will be recognized.
Fluency in French will be appreciated.
Salary and Benefits
At TLC Online our teachers will have to provide an invoice as Freelance teachers (16 euros entry level teachers) or if they reside in Greece can have the choice to be paid their National Insurance in Greece at an hourly rate depending on experience. Both options are paid above basic teaching wage and comply to all Greek labour laws. IKA will be paid, for all teachers as per Greek labour law requirements. Teachers are expected to be available to teach from the beginning of September to end of June
