Job Description
Texas A&M AgriLife Research at Corpus Christi is seeking a highly motivated scientist specializing in Geospatial Data Analytics to work with the Digital Agriculture team. This position complements the strengths of Texas A&M AgriLife Research unit at Corpus Christi in Digital Agriculture. The incumbent is expected to work with a team of transdisciplinary scientists to develop near to real time data driven decision support systems in agriculture.
General duties and Responsibilities:
One of the goals of Digital Agriculture Research Lab at Texas A&M AgriLife Research center at Corpus Christi is to develop and apply emerging technologies, including big data analytics, artificial intelligence (AI), remote data transfer, and cloud computing to help solve complex agricultural problems. Below are some of the key responsibilities:
-The candidate will work on the synthesis, integration, and analysis of large, diverse datasets obtained from remote sensing platforms such as Unmanned Aerial System (UAS), Satellite imagery, online databases, and ground sensors and develop pipelines for multi-source data integration systems in agriculture.
-The candidate will have an opportunity to work on Texas Climate Smart Initiative’s measuring, monitoring, reporting and verification (MMRV) part of the project and is expected to use their expertise to develop tools for monitoring climate smart practices and develop AI models for estimating benefits of these practices using the huge amount of data generated from this project
-Support projects on the development of digital twin systems, models, and user interfaces for visualizations, mapping, predictions, and prescriptions.
-Publish peer-reviewed papers and support grant writing.
-The candidate will have the opportunity to work with scientists from crop physiology, agronomy, extension, plant breeding, mechanical engineering, and computer science fields, and is expected to work in team and independently as needed.

Required Education & Experience:
-PhD in computer science, data science, geospatial science/engineering, remote sensing, or related discipline.
-Experience in building data models using Python or other statistical and/or mathematical programming packages.
-Experience handling data obtained from remote sensing platforms, especially satellite imagery.
-Proficiency in developing machine learning algorithms to analyze data for predictive modeling.
-Strong written and oral communication skills, including a demonstrated ability to publish in high-quality peer-reviewed journals.
Preferred Experience:
Working experience in web-based GIS, geospatial programming packages and databases.
