Job Description Insight Global is looking for a permanent, remote devops engineer to work for one of our financial companies’ head quartered in the upstate of South Carolina. This role will report to the Director of Infrastructure at RMC and work alongside other devops, network and cloud engineers. This role is ideally looking for a candidate that will bring strong Kubernetes experience to the team. Important elements of Kubernetes: Kubernetes Architecture: Understand the control plane components: API server, etcd, controller manager, and scheduler. Explore kubelet (node agent) and kube-proxy (network proxy) on worker nodes. Learn about kube-apiserver authentication and authorization mechanisms. Networking: Master Kubernetes networking models: Service, Ingress, and Network Policies. Dive into CNI plugins (like Calico, Flannel, or Cilium) for pod networking. Explore service meshes (e.g., Istio) for advanced traffic management. Storage: Understand Persistent Volumes (PVs) and Persistent Volume Claims (PVCs). Explore Storage Classes and dynamic provisioning. Learn about StatefulSets for stateful applications. Security and RBAC: Dive into Role-Based Access Control (RBAC): Roles, RoleBindings, ClusterRoles, and ClusterRoleBindings. Explore Pod Security Policies (PSPs) for fine-grained security. Understand secrets, configMaps, and Security Contexts. Monitoring and Logging: Explore Prometheus for monitoring and Grafana for visualization. Set up Kubernetes Events and audit logging. Learn about EFK stack (Elasticsearch, Fluentd, Kibana) for centralized logging. Advanced Topics: Dive into Custom Resource Definitions (CRDs) and Operators. Explore Horizontal Pod Autoscaling (HPA) and Vertical Pod Autoscaling (VPA). Learn about Kubernetes API clients (e.g., kubectl, client-go).
