As a Product Configuration Specialist, you will play a critical role in our organization’s success by utilizing your expertise in SAP variant configuration modeling, SQL data maintenance, VBA coding and additional SAP modules. You will be responsible for ensuring accurate and efficient product configurations, maintaining our data systems, and optimize processes. In this role you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, verify and implement product configurations in our SAP and non-SAP systems to ensure products are designed and then built to Johnson Controls design standards. In this role you will be the local expert for designing, implementing and maintaining variant configuration models using the SAP VC module for assigned JCI HVAC Ducted Systems products. You will be the Super User and owner for the digital tools and processes required to design and implement configurable Bill of Material models sold by Johnson Controls. You will work with a global team to implement the rules required for new product designs, resolve system issues and revise requirements as needed. The successful candidate is accountable for product configurations for all Ducted Systems HVAC products we build, as well as the management and configuration of our online, customer-facing pre-sales tools. How you will do it: Design and implement variant configuration models with the SAP VC module for New Products and maintain existing products lines Design and implement models using characteristics, classes, configurable materials, configuration profiles, procedures, selection conditions, variant pricing, super routing, Super Bom, user interface, variant tables, Material variants and sales order costing etc. Utilize Variant configuration in SAP Sales and Distribution (SD) and Production Planning (PP) modules Manage all bills of materials, both variable and static, for commercial and residential HVAC with SAP LO-VC Troubleshoot and resolve configuration issues, working closely with stakeholders to meet business requirements Establish and maintain integration and communication between SAP and non-SAP systems using Electronic Data Exchange (EDI) / Application Link Enabling (ALE) Gather, aggregate and store information from a variety of sources for a variety of purposes. Systems include, but are not limited to, SQL Server databases, SAP variant configuration, engineering change modules and customer-facing sales tools Perform data cleansing, transformation, and integration tasks to ensure data integrity Develop and optimize SQL queries for data retrieval and reporting purposes SQL data maintenance and VBA code modification Develop and maintain VBA macros and scripts to automate manual processes and increase efficiency. Collaborate with end-users to understand their needs and provide technical solutions using VBA coding. Troubleshoot and debug VBA code to resolve issues and improve functionality. Interact with a variety of job functions including purchasing, procurement, design engineering, production planning and manufacturing engineering Continuously examining our processes, and identifying opportunities to shrink or automate them with off-the-shelf tooling Document procedures and work instructions to aid in the training and standardization of Product Configuration process and use of digital tools Participate in new product introduction projects from concept to commercialization Perform other duties as assigned What we look for: Required Bachelor Degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or related field of study 3-5 years of experience in SAP VC or AVC modelling, including knowledge of configurations profiles, rules and dependencies. Proficiency in SQL database management and query optimization Excellent VBA coding skills, with the ability to develop and maintain complex macros and scripts Electronic Data Exchange (EDI) / Application Link Enabling (ALE) integration experience or knowledge Expert SAP experience, preferably in Variant Configurator modeling, Material Master data, bills of material maintenance, Classification, Engineering Changes systems and additional module(s) and integration points Technical Writing ability to document work procedures to be shared across the JCI organization Able to speak to technical and non-technical audiences, as well as absorb and use technical documentation Ability to present project objectives, progress reporting, and facilitate review meetings with executive and senior audience while demonstrating strong business acumen Ability to multi-task and work under pressure to hit tight deadlines Availability to work some weekends or evenings Preferred Experience or knowledge of the HVAC Industry preferred Windchill or similar Product Lifecycle Management Software experience Implementation in the discrete manufacturing industry Lean and Six Sigma Certification About the Manager : I’ve been working in the manufacturing industry for 10+ years.
