Processes threat data from a variety of sources to provide actionable intelligence to internal consumers. These consumers use the information to implement countermeasures, maintain and enhance the defenses for our information systems and resources. In this important position, make it possible for the organization to defend its assets with clear vision and situational awareness in a dynamic and complex threat environment.

Acts as a team leader throughout the process of initial triage, investigation and escalation decision tree.Investigates alerts and alarms to provide escalation details for partner teams and acts as the point of contact for investigation and track remediation activity.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Monitoring and processing various sources to produce threat and risk assessments for multiple consumers
  • Collaboration with network, host, and user activity data managers, assessing norms and identifying anomalies
  • Work directly with Information Security teams to implement procedures and systems for the protection, conservation, and accountability of proprietary, personal, or privileged electronic data
  • Proactively investigate incidents, gather information and intelligence, and identify vulnerabilities to support Information Security efforts
  • Supporting the creation and implementation of new processes as appropriate
  • Staying current on threat and risk intelligence best practices, news, issues, vulnerabilities, and threats (specifically as they apply to the healthcare and financial industries)
  • Fulfilling routine and ad-hoc reporting requests
  • Conducting advanced analytical research efforts
  • Conducting briefings as needed
  • Supporting activities related to the implementation and use of tools for intelligence gathering, analysis, and reporting
  • Stays current with new and evolving technologies via formal training and self-directed education

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree (or higher) OR 4+ years of experience in information security or computer sciences
  • 5+ years of experience in an IT or cyber security field
  • 3+ years of experience in data correlation techniques
  • 3+ years of experience in processes, procedures, and methods to research, analyze, and disseminate open source intelligence information

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Security certifications (e.g. CISSP, CISM, CISA, OSCP)
  • Foundational knowledge in information security, to include networking architecture, security in depth, general intelligence practices, vulnerability management
  • Has participated in development or management in areas of cyber security operations, such as attack surface management, SOC operations, Intrusion Detection/Intrusion Prevention Systems (IDS/IPS), threats (including APT, insider, etc.), vulnerabilities, and exploits, incident response, investigations and remediation
  • Experience with various SIEM (OSSIM), data repositories, protections sensor configurations, tool implementation
  • Broad knowledge of security controls and understanding Tactics, Techniques and Procedures
  • Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills including the ability to perform analysis investigation
  • US Government Intelligence Community (IC) cyber or attack surface management experience
  • Willingness and ability to seek US Government Security Clearance (as required)

California, Colorado, Nevada, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Rhode Island, Hawaii, Washington, or Washington D.C Residents Only: The hourly range for California, Colorado, Nevada, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Rhode Island, Hawaii, Washington, or Washington D.C residents is $88,000 to $173,200 per year. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
