Job Summary The Sr Systems Engineer is tasked with developing and managing high-performance hybrid cloud infrastructure environments with a strong focus on Linux platforms. This role involves configuring, maintaining, and supporting a sophisticated server environment that encompasses Linux systems in both on-premises data centers and Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) in cloud settings. .As a vital member of the Infrastructure Services team, the Sr Systems Engineer is expected to fully grasp and align with the team’s goals and objectives. This understanding is crucial for contributing effectively to the broader strategies of the Infrastructure & Operations (I&O) division, ensuring that the Linux infrastructure is robust, efficient, and seamlessly integrated with the organization’s overall IT landscape. Key Responsibilities: Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for advanced Linux/Unix and/or NetApp Systems. Ensure operational stability and high availability (99.8% uptime) of complex server and storage environments through proactive monitoring and automated alerting systems. Lead the development and maintenance of comprehensive Standard Operating Procedures and documentation. Provide expert-level Tier 3 support, maintaining SLA/RLA compliance above 90%. Drive automation in server builds and patching processes using advanced scripting languages and automation tools like Tanium, SSM, or Satellite. Architect and implement robust, secure, and cost-effective solutions aligned with business objectives and technology roadmap. Build and maintain secure, hardened servers, aiming for excellence in compliance with security standards. Play a pivotal role in integration or divestiture initiatives, offering expert insights for seamless integration of IT assets. Strategically manage end-of-life assets, renewals, and provide critical inputs for organizational IT strategies. Oversee and enhance backup and restore environments, including regular testing, performance tuning, and documentation. Collaborate with DBA teams for advanced configurations of MySQL/SQL Server as necessary. Essential Job Skills: Mastery in Linux/Unix environments, including RHEL, CentOS, SUSE, and Amazon Linux. Experience with AWS and Linux automation. Bash, Python, Perl. Extensive experience with storage technologies like NetApp, FSX OntApp, FSX-N. Proficient in RedHat HA Clustering, Satellite, and Centrify. Strong grasp of networking/distrbuted computing environment concepts (Routing protocols, DHCP, DNS, TCP/IP). Expertise in monitoring tools such as Splunk, Cloudwatch, Zabbix, and Centrify. Advanced troubleshooting capabilities, including in-depth software and hardware issue resolution and root cause analysis. In-depth knowledge of AWS cloud services and their application in a Linux environment. Solid understanding of security protocols (SSH, Winbind, etc.) and web technologies (Apache, Tomcat, etc.).
