How will you make an impact

We are a team of engineers that specialize in building software-defined infrastructure products that enable scientific applications in the Cloud and on-premises for customers of our award-winning Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry instruments. Our self-service infrastructure supports a R&D organization of hundreds of software engineers building the Thermo Scientific Ardia Platform and ensures our SaaS offerings are secure, scalable, and optimized for our customers.

What will you do

  • Lead a team in the CMD DevSecOps organization developing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for Kubernetes-based software that accelerates science. The team will provide our global customers and internal teams with the software-defined infrastructure for customer private Clouds, internal R&D environments, and public Cloud SaaS offerings.
  • Serve as a key member of our extended software team building strong relationships with multi-functional teams and scientific platform partners while educating the organization about DevSecOps processes.

How will you get here

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent engineering degree; Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) and/or AWS Certified Solution Architect Associate or Professional preferred

Experience

  • 10+ years combined experience in software engineering as a Software Engineering Manager, Architect, or Lead Engineer; 2+ years as a manager preferred
  • Experience authoring IaC with Pulumi or Crossplane for Kubernetes-based applications
  • Record of independent team leadership continuously improving products and services
  • Software engineering leadership, especially staffing and growing teams

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Software development experience with innovative practices
  • Deep understanding of Kubernetes concepts including cluster architecture, scheduling, networking, storage, and security
  • Understanding of GitOps practices, and use of Argo CD, Flux CD, or similar tool
  • Strong practical administration skills in the AWS Cloud
  • Golang programming either self-taught or on the job
  • Track record of implementing observability tooling such as Prometheus, OpenTelemetry, or Service Meshes
  • Familiarity with authoring Helm charts
  • Understanding principles of web application security

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range estimated for this position based in California is $163,100.00-$245,000.00.
