Job Description Primary Purpose The Senior Network Engineer is an advanced level position responsible for the planning of, design, and implementation of IT and OT network infrastructure projects at Sempra Infrastructure. This role works as a senior team member of network engineers to successfully and effectively execute IT/OT network engineering projects that align with the needs of the business. Utilizes a deep knowledge of networking technologies and a high level of experience working in ICS/SCADA environments. This position provides the opportunity to develop leadership skills as it is responsible for providing developmental leadership and technical guidance for junior level engineers. Duties and Responsibilities Delivery and Execution: Plans, coordinates, and executes complex network infrastructure maintenance, changes, and upgrades. Evaluates, administers, and operates network monitoring and diagnostic equipment/tools for capacity planning, monitoring, alerting, troubleshooting, and security purposes. Installs, configures, and documents complex IT/OT network systems. Troubleshoots, remediates, and performs root cause analysis of challenging technical issues escalated to the engineering level. • Contacts and coordinates vendor, carrier, and remote support when necessary to resolve high impact network issues and/or outages. Documents and reports problems to appropriate management, engineers and/or peers, including non-technical audiences. Value Delivery, Strategy, and Planning: Plans, builds, and executes complex network engineering IT/OT projects to include new plants/offices, mergers/divestitures, redesigns, and data center moves. Identifies, evaluates, and deploys complex network technology solutions, provides feedback, makes recommendations. Drives innovation to sustain, automate, standardize, and mature network engineering processes by working with other network engineers and architects to identify and design impactful solutions. Develops, documents, and adheres to industry/enterprise best practices. Works collaboratively with business stakeholders, IT/Cybersecurity, and 3rd party vendors to translate business needs and execute delivery quality solutions. Functions as Network Engineering lead as required and the SME on assigned projects. Proactively identifies and addresses opportunities for improvement within the enterprise network Collaboration: Reviews and provides guidance on engineers’ designs, changes, and diagrams. Works with cross-functional IT and enterprise teams to build alignment and model commitment to high performance as “one team.” Builds relationship with business stakeholders, external service providers, and engineering teams; inspire ideas and exemplary solutions form inception through implementation. Communicates with various levels of management and end-users during analysis, development, testing, and operational phases including status updates, issue identification, and approval requirements. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Required Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Engineering, related discipline, or equivalent training and/or experience, including Military service. 5+ years’ experience in network technology infrastructure, including engineering, support, design, implementation, and operations. Experience configuring and maintaining networking hardware such as routers, switches, firewalls, as well as supporting, deploying and engineering IT/OT networks. Experience working on a Cisco based network. Experience in an enterprise level networking environment supporting multiple, diverse sites. Technical Skills: Strong troubleshooting skills. Able to perform complex troubleshooting to isolate, diagnose, and correct network problems. Demonstrated advanced ability to monitor the network environment using hardware and software tools. Ability to establish and maintain a strong level of user trust and confidence. Technical Knowledge: Advanced knowledge of Cisco routing, switching, and wireless technologies. Advanced knowledge of Palo Alto firewalls. Knowledge of various VPN products including Zscaler, Palo Alto Prisma Access (GlobalProtect), Pulse Secure. Technical Knowledge: Knowledge of Microsoft products (Teams, Office 360). Knowledge of Azure Cloud networking. Knowledge of monitoring and alerting systems including WhatsUp Gold, Splunk, NetBrain, Cisco DNA Center. Demonstrated in-depth knowledge and understanding on configuring and maintaining networking hardware such as routers, switches, firewalls, etc. CCNP or equivalent Available to travel up to 15% in US, including international travel to Mexico. Preferred Qualifications 2+ years experience in Cisco VoIP/Collaboration tools. Bilingual – (English/Spanish) speaker a plus.
