Job Description

As a Senior Tax Data Analyst , you will be responsible for leading a comprehensive data gathering initiative across Syngenta’s affiliates to support a strategic tax project (“Foreign Tax Credits” (FTC) Model). The position will play a pivotal role in ensuring the timely and accurate collection of financial data, supporting the tax modelling activities, and contributing to the success of the project. This role requires strong numerical aptitude, project management skills, high attention to detail and the ability to collaborate effectively with remote cross-functional stakeholders.

  • Lead and coordinate the financial and tax data collection process across multiple Syngenta affiliates world-wide, ensuring alignment with project objectives and timelines
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for local finance teams, providing clear instructions and guidance on data requirements and submission processes
  • Support tax modeling activities by providing accurate and up-to-date data inputs, as well as analytical insights and recommendations
  • Own the accuracy of the financial data input in the FTC model and ensure full reconciliation with the underlying source documents
  • Perform data reconciliations and investigate any special transactions or unusual items, working closely with relevant stakeholders to document the findings
  • Follow up with local teams to address any gaps, discrepancies, or delays in the submitted data, ensuring complete and timely delivery of required information
  • Support the development of the Syngenta FTC calculation model, including analysis of the collected data, participating in the model optimization and macro programming efforts to improve the calculation efficiency and model performance
  • Identify opportunities for model enhancements and new functionalities to ensure the scalability of the model to handle large volumes of data and the complex Syngenta organizational structure

You will be a great fit if you have:

  • University degree in Accounting, Finance, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field
  • 3-5 years of experience in Financial Reporting, Taxation or Data Analysis roles
  • Ability to understand and interpret financial statements and tax returns in different accounting standards and languages
  • Proven project management skills and ability coordinate global data collection efforts ensuring timely and accurate delivery
  • Ability to work with complex financial data sets and perform detailed analyses
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills and ability to work with complex financial data sets and perform detailed analyses
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., Excel), including financial modeling and macros development is an advantage
  • Prior experience in mathematical modelling, algorithm development, and simulations is an advantage
  • Very high attention to detail and a commitment to data accuracy; precise working style
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with stakeholders across different locations and time zones
