Job Description The Solution Architect proactively and holistically leads and supports infrastructure and application architecture activities that guide the development and management of a portfolio of solutions. Solutions include projects, products, systems (including applications, technologies, processes, and information), shared infrastructure services and shared application services and components to enable and drive targeted business outcomes. He/she has a deep understanding of business goals, objectives and business outcomes, business capabilities, value-streams, and business processes. The solution architect provides the necessary leadership and performs analysis / design tasks to support the development of technology solutions. He / she has overall responsibility to ensure that solutions meet business needs and align with architectural governance and standards. He or she creates deliverables for managing the organization’s portfolio of target-state, interim and current-state solutions. Translating Business Strategy Into Architecture Understands business drivers and business capabilities (future and current state) and determines corresponding enterprise system designs and change requirements to drive the organization’s targeted business outcomes. Understands emerging technology trends and disruptions and the practical application of existing, new, and emerging technologies to enable new and evolving business and operating models. Translates business and technical requirements into a technical architectural blueprint inclusive of application, data, infrastructure and process considerations and documents all solution architecture design and analysis work. Owns and drives deliverables such as standard definitions, capability models, reference architecture models and design patterns to help align and accelerate projects and ongoing technology investment. Acts as a consultant to internal teams on a broad range of technologies, platforms, and vendor offerings to drive targeted business outcomes. Leading Solution Design and Analysis Leads evaluation, design, and analysis for the implementation of solutions across a group of specific business applications or technologies based on enterprise business strategy, business capabilities, value-streams, business requirements and enterprise standards. Creates architectural designs to guide and contextualize solution development across products, services, projects and systems. Creates reference architectures focused on detailed design principles, decision points, detailed APIs, major systems and dependencies between business and IT. Manages and develops the architecture for a portfolio of projects or products, working closely with application development, network, infrastructure, security and operations teams. Orchestrating Solutions Delivery Defines the principles, guidelines, standards, and solution patterns to ensure solution decisions are aligned with the enterprise’s future-state architecture vision. Facilitates the evaluation and selection of software product standards and services, as well as the design of standard and custom software configurations. Monitors the current-state solution portfolio to identify deficiencies through aging application technologies. Facilitating and Collaborating to Deliver Business Outcomes Provides consulting support to clinical and operational teams to assist with business capability alignment and technology product selection. Consults with application, infrastructure, and security teams on solution options analysis and technology selection. Supports the Enterprise Architect in the development of the IT architectural vision and roadmap to deliver against organizational objectives. Supports the development of best practices and frameworks for architecture definition, sizing, solution options analysis, UI/UX design, etc. Partners with the Enterprise Architect to establish domain-specific reference models for business and technology capabilities for use in strategic planning and analysis Participates in cross-functional discussions within the IT organization to develop an understanding of delivery and operational processes Qualifications/Requirements Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information-technology, engineering, system analysis or a related field, or equivalent experience. Minimum of seven years of experience across IT solution development disciplines, including application development, middleware, database management and cloud development. Experience with cloud-based infrastructure architectures and design patterns. Experience with cloud-native application development and deployment in Azure, AWS or GCP. Exposure to multiple, diverse technologies, platforms, and processing environments. Good understanding of strategic and new and emerging technology trends, and the practical application of existing, new, and emerging technologies to new and evolving business and operating models. Good understanding of product management, agile principles and development methodologies and capability of supporting agile teams by providing advice and guidance on opportunities, impact, and risks, taking into account technical and architectural debt. Experience working in the Hospital & Healthcare industry is helpful, but not required. Experience developing architecture blueprints, strategies, and roadmaps. Experience delivering presentations to senior-level executives and technical audiences. Experience with architecture, design and implementation of cloud computing service models including SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS. Experience with business use cases leveraging AI / ML technology and frameworks. Experience with information modeling, database technologies and predictive analytics. Experience with systems integration across multiple platforms in a hybrid cloud environment. Knowledge of major EA frameworks such as TOGAF, Zachman, DoDAF. Knowledge of various backend development languages like .Net, Java, Go and Python. Knowledge of various database technologies such as MySQL, MongoDB, MS SQLServer and Oracle. Knowledge of various frontend web development languages such as JavaScript, HTML and CSS. Knowledge of various aspects of an enterprise technology architecture including business, information, data, network, and security. Knowledge of widely used cybersecurity frameworks such as NIST, ISO 27001 / 27002, SOC2, HIPA, FISMA, etc. and key security controls. Understanding and knowledge of SDLC methodologies (such as waterfall, spiral, agile software development, rapid prototyping, incremental, synchronize and stabilize, and DevOps). Knowledge and understanding of different modeling languages (such as UML, BPMN and ArchiMate). Understanding and knowledge of IT standards and general controls.
