Our digital tools and platforms are a critical way that our key audiences engage with us, and need to be stable and adaptable to provide a positive, worthwhile experience. Internal data systems should provide necessary analytics capabilities to drive evidence-driven, data- informed program implementation. And, underpinning all of this, our systems need to allow our teams to better manage and be responsive to our key stakeholders, providing efficiencies to and reducing the challenges of our collaborative work. Welcome.US Program Technology Summer Intern Welcome.US is looking for 1 Full-time (35-40 hrs/week) computer science intern to work on SQL projects with our Program Technology team. Daily schedule will be determined with your supervisor. You will work closely within your department as well as cross collaboratively throughout the organization. This position will report to the VP of Technology and Innovation, with additional oversight from the Director, Engineering . This Internship is a full-time virtual work position. Required Skills and Experience: Programming skills: intermediate knowledge of programming languages such as Python, Java, or C++ is necessary. SQL skills: Strong understanding of SQL syntax, data modeling, and query optimization. Experience with querying databases using SQL is required. BigQuery knowledge: Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and BigQuery is essential. Ability to write queries in BigQuery and understand its limitations is necessary. Dbt / Dataflow / Dataproc knowledge: experience using dbt is desired, but not mandatory. Willingness to learn and adapt to new tools is a must. Data engineering concepts: Understanding of data engineering concepts such as data pipelines, ETL processes, and data warehousing is required. Collaboration skills: Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including data engineers, analysts, and product managers is necessary. Duties will include: Supporting the design, development and maintenance of databases using BigQuery, including data modeling, schema design, and query optimization Support the writing SQL queries to extract insights from datasets, joins, subqueries and aggregate functions Support building data pipelines using dbt, Google Dataflow and Dataproc Document database designs, data pipelines, and SQL queries to ensure knowledge sharing and reuse.
