The successful candidate will provide leadership, direction, and hands-on involvement in deploying, configuring, and operating next-generation network systems and cybersecurity initiatives across the city’s various departments. This is a remote, part-time role where hours may increase as needed. Occasional travel onsite to Riverside may be requested for emergency or issues unsafe to perform remotely. Key Responsibilities: Design, implement, and support VMware NSX/ Dell VxRail solutions for multiple data center locations. Manage and support large multi-site network infrastructure primarily involving Cisco and Aruba hardware and services. Administer, configure, and maintain next-generation firewall systems focusing on cybersecurity best practices. Design and implement wireless network configurations with Aruba or Cisco/Meraki wireless access points and controllers. Support multiple network connectivity types, including but not limited to dark fiber, Metro-Ethernet, MPLS, EIGRP, OSPF, BGP, and EVPN. Troubleshoot network-related issues and implement strategic solutions for long-term network stability. Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of all network configurations and related systems. Coordinate and liaise with vendors, other IT personnel, and internal stakeholders to ensure network performance meets City Government needs and expectations. Provide technical leadership and guidance to junior network engineers and staff. Qualifications: Minimum of 4 years of direct deployment and operational experience in VMware NSX/ Dell VxRail for multiple data center locations. Minimum of 4 years of direct deployment and operational experience with large multi-site network infrastructure from either Cisco to Aruba hardware or services. Experience in next-generation firewall administration, configuration, and cybersecurity best practices. Demonstrated wireless network configuration and operational experience with either Aruba or Cisco/Meraki wireless access points and controllers. Proven experience supporting multiple network connectivity types, including but not limited to dark fiber, Metro-Ethernet, MPLS, EIGRP, OSPF, BGP, and EVPN. Current ACSP (Aruba), CCNP (Cisco), or higher network certifications are highly desirable. Excellent communication and project management skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
