As the university of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, the German Sport University Cologne is unique in Germany with its research spectrum and around 6,000 students. It is also one of the most renowned universities in its field internationally. The central operating unit for information technology (ze.IT) operates the university’s IT infrastructure and IT applications, such as the HisInOne campus management system.

To strengthen our team in the Information Technology Operating Unit (ze.IT), we are looking to fill a full-time position as System Administrator for the operation of a campus management system (f/m/d) with a regular working week of currently 39 hours and 50 minutes for first-time employment at the German Sport University Cologne for a limited period of two years as soon as possible.

Your main tasks

  • Administration of the system landscape, consisting of web servers, application servers and database servers (Apache, Tomcat, PostgreSQL)
  • Administration of the operating systems (Linux and Windows)
  • Maintenance and further development of the required (web) interfaces (XML, JAVA)
  • Specialist administration, configuration (customizing) and further development of the HISinOne campus management system
  • Monitoring of operation, data validation, error analysis and correction
  • Collaboration with the specialist departments and external service providers in the context of the campus management system

Your profile

Required are

  • A successfully completed university degree in the field of computer science or completed training in the IT sector as well as several years of relevant professional experience
  • Enjoy administering a complex IT system with diverse technical components
  • Broad knowledge in the field of operational IT and the willingness to acquire expert knowledge in some sub-areas
  • Good communication skills and enjoy working in a team
  • Business fluent in written and spoken German

Desirable are

Experience or knowledge in one or more of the following areas:

  • Support of redundantly built complex web applications
  • System administration of Linux and Windows servers
  • Administration of web servers and SQL database systems
  • Programming with JAVA
  • XML and web services
