This position is based at our friendly office in Warsaw and you will join our Static & Market Data Team within Wealth Management & Trading. The team consists of software engineers, business analysts and a team architect reporting to the development manager. The team supplies the data foundation for various key systems.
The Cobol software engineer role offers the possibility of being a central part of ensuring data validity, daily maintenance as well as secure and stabile operations. Collaboration with several third-party vendors is also a part of the business life. At BEC, we prefer to collaborate often in the office, but we also keep the opportunity to work remotely up to eight days per month. Your direct manager will be Henrik Hermann.
Primary task and responsibilities include:
- Mainframe development and processing using COBOL.
- Developing new features & correcting errors
- Monitoring and actively reacting to alerts and warnings in relation to mainframe systems
- Participate in the design, coding, testing and documentation
- Maintaining and improving existing solutions
- Comply to regulation and standards
- Collaborate with IT and business specialists to rapidly develop and deliver solutions that meet changing business needs
- Together with the team working on achieving the team goals
To succeed you will have:
- At least few years of experience in mainframe development and various languages such as Cobol, CICS, DB2, JCL, SQL from the financial sector, telecom, pharma, or similar
- Ability to communicate with colleagues and stakeholders outside the team to develop the best solutions
- To be self-driven, proactive and don’t be shy to express your opinion
- To be adaptive towards change, curious to learn and understand the business objectives
- To be a team player with focus on working together as a team
- Analytical skills and ability to develop innovative solutions
- To master English at a high level both in writing and orally working in teams in Denmark and Poland
It’s nice-to-have:
- Experience with agile/scrum methodologies and a demonstrated ability to contribute to an agile development environment.
- Experience with Git/BitBucket, JIRA, API, Java, Jenkins.
- Experience in mainframe development and various languages such as IDz/TSO, PL/1
