How will you make an impact?

As the leader of the Enterprise Technology Applications Architecture team, you will have responsibility for the governance and definition of operational, impactful solutions, which are directly aligned to enterprise vision and goals. Your team’s work will ensure transparency throughout the application’s landscape, allowing modernization of implementations through well-defined templates, whilst adhering to agreed roadmaps and strategies. You will help with AOP discussions and be involved in phase zero discussions about new rollouts throughout the business. Your team will need to stay on top of innovations in the technology sector and you will be relied upon by our business and IT colleagues to align any new innovations with business goals.

Job Reponsibilities     

  • Define, maintain and publish an inventory of our applications landscape, solutions and roadmaps, focusing on ERP applications and all ancillary technologies which interact with these systems.
  • Work closely with business IT and teams to understand the business operations roadmaps, operational challenges and requirements supported by our applications.
  • Facilitate regular proof of concepts from your team, for new technology initiatives and functionality to our business IT colleagues.
  • Effectively and meaningfully influence discussions and roadmaps with our ETO, IT, and business.
  • Define and maintain roadmaps with one eye on innovation and scalability.
  • Proactively work with partners and vendors to evaluate new technologies and capabilities to determine if there is enough business value and alignment with our roadmap to warrant investment.
  • Constantly align with functional and technical delivery teams and leaders to ensure governance, compliance and good architectural discipline in projects and improvements.
  • Ensure that all technology solutions follow security, compliance controls, and conformance to Thermo Fisher’s IT security standards.
  • Work with ETO colleagues to ensure consistency of approach, sharing of solutions and innovations and cross-pollination of knowledge.
  • Handle and manage a team of professional IT architects.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required in Computer Science or relevant work experience
  • Minimum 8-10 years experience in ERP consultancy/analysis
  • At least 2-3 years’ experience in an IT leadership role
  • Strong abilities in ERP systems, with exposure to new technologies like SAP S/4HANA and Oracle Cloud
  • Experience of at least three end-to-end ERP deployments

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Knowledge of additional software add-ons is desirable, like SAP Ariba, SAP BW/4HANA, SAP Analytics Cloud, Cognos, Oracle Fusion Middleware, Mulesoft, Manhattan WMS, SAP Solution Manager, Precision Trax.
  • Cloud computing knowledge essential.
  • Good understanding of costs and risks associated with software applications.
  • Understanding of DevOps and Agile principles.
  • Ability to translate technical principles to a business audience and vice-versa.
  • Strong presentation skills are critical.
  • Must be a self-starter, able to work unsupervised, and set own and team agenda and direction for growth of the architecture function.
  • Self-confidence and ability to influence and present to internal key partners and senior leadership.
  • Good business and finance foresight and experience.
