How will you make an impact?
An experienced, dynamic and self-motivated individual is required to test pioneering mass spectrometry software products. Successful candidate will be a motivated self-starter with strong leadership, organizational skills.
What will you do?
- Participate in all phases of the product development from product definition to final release
- Responsible for coordinating the efforts of a team of product evaluation test engineers and scientists
- Work closely with global scrum teams (in Germany, India, Slovakia, US) to develop testing materials that ensure software products meet the specifications
- Conduct testing of Enterprise software applications in Agile software development methodology
- Build and follow Test Plans, and Test Cases, establish pass/fail test criteria, document issues, and perform final verification of defect resolutions.
- Participate in the design, development, and implementation of new software products as well as the maintenance and improvement of existing software.
- Author project documents and status reports
- Communicate project status and issues to other functional teams, collaborators and management
- Facilitate in the removal of roadblocks as they arise to ensure product evaluation team efficiency Responsible for testing software products and its documentation
- Evaluation and Acceptance of Requirements as Complete
- Author project documents and status reports
- Participate in project planning and progress tracking
- Contribute to the delivery of the CMD software projects on-time and within budget.
- Other miscellaneous duties as assigned
How will you get here?
- BS in Computer Science, MS in Chemistry/Bioinformatics or equivalent
- Minimum of 5+ years of laboratory experience using Thermo or competitor software or equivalent experience testing scientific software or experience with Liquid Chromatography/Mass Spectrometry applications.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Required:
- Experience in Requirement analysis, Test Design, Test Execution, and Defect tracking

- Ability to work in a team
- A detailed understanding of qualitative and quantitative analytical chemistry
- Understanding and ability to apply statistical mathematics
- Demonstrated experience and knowledge of software test methodologies
- Demonstrated technical\scientific knowledge in Life Sciences using Mass Spectrometry or similar analytical techniques
- Hands on experience handling LC-MS and/or GC-MS
- Knowledge on Quantitation workflows
- Familiarity with entire SDLC process, in particular in an Agile environment
- Demonstrated experience in using test management tools
- Experience with defect tracking systems
- Demonstrate Thermo Fisher Scientific values – Integrity, Intensity, Innovation and Involvement
- Preferred::
- Familiarity with Quality System Regulation and FDA expectations for software and hardware validation is a plus
- Desired:
- Certifications in software testing, such as ISTQB (International Software Testing Qualifications Board).
- Extensive experience with automation testing and tools
- Ability to write automation scripts
- Project Management experience
- Ph.D. in Chemistry or related sciences
