POSITION SUMMARY: We’re looking for an Assistant Vice President, Data Engineering and Platforms to advance our data engineering capabilities, our strategy for our data platforms, and our co-development practices with cross-functional engineering teams across The Hanover. You’ll leverage your leadership skills and experiences to mature our data engineering and operations center-of-excellence, establish process standards, drive planning and execution of critical data-related initiatives, and set our engineering and operations teams up for success as we look to the future. In this role, you will provide mentorship and guidance to our engineering and operations employees to solve complex challenges, strengthen our practices, and maximize opportunities for career development and learning. In partnership with our CTO & VP, Data Engineering and Platforms, this role will: Experience driving larger more complicated projects independently as well as mentoring less experienced engineers. Develop HTG’s data engineering and platforms strategy and operating model. Build out the Hanover Technology Group’s (HTG) data engineering function, data operations function, and co-development function (Data, Azure, Innovation) processes. Collaborate with data engineering and operations practice leader to develop the operating model for operational data store’s (ODS) long term development and support plan. Provide oversight for operational and program management support for all data related projects and co-development initiatives. Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of enterprise data engineering solutions, ensuring timely completion, within budget, that fulfill architectural standards. Partner with Chief Data Officer (CDO) and Enterprise Data & Analytics function to develop organizational processes, strengthen project management capability, and create alignment to HTG processes. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, prioritize, and execute on data engineering initiatives. Set strategic direction, ensuring alignment with business objectives, and drive continuous improvement in data engineering and co-development processes. Technical skills (Advanced): ETL (Azure Data Factory, SSIS, etc.) Advanced Data Modeling, SQL, Data Management and Documentation, Data Architecture, Data Governance, Enterprise Metadata Management, NoSQL, Unstructured data (Data Lakes, etc.), Massive Parallel Processing WHAT YOU NEED TO APPLY: Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant technical field Master’s degree preferred 10+ years of related data or technology experience 5+ years of team leadership and people management experience Experience in projects involving large-scale multi-dimensional platforms and databases, complex business infrastructure, and cross-functional teams.
