This shall include the design & localization of new hyperscale data centers and campuses, supporting operations staff with engineering solutions, streamlining construction issue resolution and other internal engineering tasks. This position is remote (east coast preferred) with travel as needed What you’ll do Review and assist development of electrical systems for hyperscale data centers including campus planning, general layout/arrangements, Single line diagrams, SCCAF, calculations, etc. Review technical development of site primary substation. Review internal specifications and vendor compliance statements (CDE). Oversee design consultants and provide direction or escalation in accordance with established engineering standards. Peer review design consultants’ deliverables including drawing sets, specifications, sequence of operations, calculations, models, etc. and provide comments & resolutions Review and advise on potential value engineering opportunities. Develop rapid conceptual sketches using CAD or BIM for visualization and spatial/dimensional validations (e.g., for conveying ideas, streamlining communication, etc.). Occasionally lead projects and solutioning of electrical issues, outages, fleet wide improvements and other needs arising from existing, operational data center campuses as ExE representative in direct support of DCOps partners. Evaluate post-mortem reports, root cause analyses and presentations and make comments and recommendations. Generate solution/upgrade/improvement options that have a fleetwide impact to improve reliability and availability of critical operational infrastructure. Review data analytics of operational trends (historian trend logs) to evaluate equipment health, remaining useful life and predictive failure models. Work with partners in construction, design and change management to compile, prioritize/triage and process construction originated engineering issues for standard design/product improvements. When necessary, support engineering bulletins to ensure wide dissemination of design changes. Support in overall standard design improvement loops/processes between products, design, construction and operations. Operate client’s “Buganizer” platform to file or close out ‘bugs’. Contractor shall produce presentations using as the main ‘deliverable’ format to communicate findings, evaluations and options to internal partners What you’ll need Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Electrical Engineering is required, P.E. is preferred. 5 years of proven experience in design, construction, and commissioning of medium/low voltage electrical distribution systems, as well as primary substations. Experience specifying switchgears/switchboards/panel boards, cables, monitoring equipment, generators, VFDs, UPS, Transformers, etc. Experience performing power system analysis with common engineering software packages. Proficient user of drafting tools like CAD or BIM. Familiarity with Google Workspace and its related products (Sheets, Docs, Slides). Experience and general knowledge of cross discipline teams: structural, civil, IT/Telecom, security, mechanical, architectural. The minimum salary for the Data Center Electrical Engineer position is $130,000 annually and the maximum salary for the Data Center Electrical Engineer position is $180,000 annually. The compensation that is offered to a successful candidate will depend on the candidate’s skills, qualifications, and experience. Successful candidates will also be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on CBRE’s applicable benefit program.
