Our Corporate Data and Analytics team is seeking a Director of Data and Analytics to join our growing team in our Worcester, MA Corporate Headquarters, or remote work location.
This is a full time, exempt role.
POSITION OVERVIEW: Manages a team of business data analysts that use business data and statistical methods to provide insight into business performance and suggest area and methods of improving operations. Implements and oversees the analytical and data governance approaches and methodologies. Presents insight and recommendations to management for decision making and strategic planning. Controls, operates and develops internal/external information sources and processes for business analysis. Manages & develops staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Extensive knowledge of department processes. Builds consultative relationships with business partners to ensure an understanding and prioritization of work product.
IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL: Provides strategic leadership in creating and implementing programs and processes; may assist AVP/VP in strategy formulation, but primarily focuses on the execution of set strategies. Increasing accountability, ownership and scope. Helps to develop and subsequently implement new projects, policies and procedures for the department(s) to meet broad, but specific goals. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect functional area of responsibility. Some insurance experience required.
Collaborates with business partners to identify and solve business problems. Provides training and development of analytics talent and acts as a peer mentor. May prepare and deliver training. Diagnose and understand issues through the analysis of company and industry experience and recommend action. Design and implements data governance policies and procedures. Design, review, and analyze reports and data compilations as requested. Manages data governance tools and information frameworks. Lead meetings and provide consulting with internal and external customers to discuss analysis results. Oversees the operation of data management and reporting processes to provide information to business partners. Perform liaison function between business partners, MIS and the technology department to influence strategy and long-term roadmaps. Leads meetings, able to influence business partners and articulate findings. Oversees the preparation of necessary systems specifications. Responsible for communicating results/issues to upper level management. Supports the management of data related projects. Performs peer review of team work output Provides coaching to team on standard practices and development of problem-solving techniques. Develops leadership skills, motivates and oversees direct reports’ work product and day to day workload. May lead or participate in community recruiting and/or training activities. Develops a broad base of industry & technology knowledge as well as current economic and business trends. Acts as a change agent and effectively focuses the resources during times of transition and change. WHAT YOU NEED TO APPLY: 8 years related experience and bachelor’s degree, preferably a master’s degree. Has 3 years of experience in a management capacity. Degrees in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Systems are preferred, a master’s degree is also a preference Supervisory experience with strong people management skills, effective at coaching and motivating staff. Possesses a detailed understanding of analytics concepts/methods and the ability to research and employ new techniques depending on project requirements. Applied Data Science, Data Science, Information and Data Science, Information Management Analytics, Data Mining, Predictive Analytics are most sought-after. Communication of Results – Ability to express concepts (e. g. business, technical and other), ideas, insights, opinions, and conclusions, so that others understand or are persuaded to act. Relationship Building – Understands the importance of developing and maintaining cooperative relationships with others at all levels of the organization by making others feel their concerns and contributions are important. Recognize patterns and relationships between apparently unrelated entities or situations and create strategies that incorporate innovative concepts and business needs to drive the company to the next level.
