Our Technology team is currently seeking a Director of Data Engineering and Platforms to join our growing team in our Worcester, MA office or remote work arrangement. This is a full time, exempt position.
POSITION SUMMARY: We’re looking for a Director, Data Engineering and Platforms to advance our data engineering capabilities, establish our data engineering center of excellence, and foster a culture of learning and innovation that will generate high-quality engineering solutions. You’ll leverage your leadership skills and technical experiences to shape our engineering COE, drive adoption of engineering best practices and standards, support execution of critical data-related initiatives, and solve complex business problems. In this role, you will provide mentorship and guidance to our engineering team to develop the skills our data engineers and maximize the value of our data solutions for our internal customers. IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL: As a part of the Hanover Technology Group’s (HTG) Data engineering leadership team, help to shape our data engineering center of excellence. Establish data engineering best practices and play a key role in stakeholder engagement to foster adoption and utilization. Deliver high quality engineering solutions with a focus on scalability, reliability, and data security. Leverage technical expertise to address complex engineering issues and translate into data integration and database systems designs. Determine and steward the approach to execution throughout the lifecycle of client engagements. Ensure all data engineering deliverables are high-quality through setting development standards, driving adherence to standards, and participating in code reviews. Mentor and support HTG data engineering team members as needed. WHAT YOU NEED TO APPLY: Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant technical field. Master’s degree preferred. 6-8 years of related data or technology experience. 2+ years of team leadership and people management experience preferred. Experience in projects involving large-scale multi-dimensional platforms and databases, complex business infrastructure, and cross-functional teams. Experience driving larger more complicated projects independently as well as mentoring less experienced engineers. Technical skills (Advanced): ETL (Azure Data Factory, SSIS, etc.) Advanced Data Modeling, SQL, Data Management and Documentation, Data Architecture, Data Governance, Enterprise Metadata Management, NoSQL, Unstructured data (Data Lakes, etc.), Massive Parallel Processing Communication Skills: Data engineers are often called to present their findings or translate the data into an understandable document. You will need to write and speak clearly, easily communicating complex ideas. Critical Thinking: Data engineers must look at the numbers, trends, and data and come to new conclusions based on the findings. Attention to Detail: Data is precise. Data engineers must make sure they are vigilant in their analysis to come to correct conclusions.
