Position in this function is responsible for being the primary technical leader to create, deliver, and govern the Microsoft Configuration Manager (MCM) solution. MCM is used to package and deliver our base images to endpoints, apply security policies and patches to address both functionality and vulnerabilities, manage and report on endpoint health, and deliver millions of automated application installs. Our MCM implementation supports more than 250,000 endpoints.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop and drive the long-term technical design, architecture, and implementation of the MCM program and roadmap
- Engage with various business leaders and IT groups to examine and interpret operational requirements in order to develop data-driven technology proposals and business cases that align with the enterprise’s technological vision
- Design immediate strategies to address workstation management and standardization across the enterprise for security patching, software delivery and inventory
- Take swift, yet thoughtful and well-thought-out necessary actions to increase efficiencies, performance and to maximize both technical and functional designs
- Practice ongoing collaboration and thought leadership by participating with other Optum IT business units such as engineering, developers, and operational support personnel
- Effectively employ expertise and communication skills to gain stakeholder support and approval of proposed solutions
- Support knowledge management by creating, maintaining, and improving documentation such as solution design documents (HLD, LLD), knowledge articles, Wikis, and other artifacts
- Employ a proactive approach utilizing KPI’s to develop solutions and processes that continually improve the quality of the MCM application/service, enable automation & orchestration, and shift-to-the-left support functions into teams closest to the end users
- Manage, maintain, and update product configurations to support various stages of development, testing, and release-to-production initiatives
- Develop/enhance scripts, tools, and automation workflows to optimize the MCM functionality, performance, and maintenance functions
- Maintain technical expertise in Azure, Intune and MCM technologies
- Strict adherence to corporate and government security standards
- Contribute to the development, management, and monitoring of MCM operations such as software distribution, patch management, inventory, compliance, reporting, and troubleshooting
- Mentor, coach, and collaborate with other MCM-dedicated team members
- Perform other relevant job duties as assigned and required by the business

Required Qualifications:
- 8+ years of experience of large enterprise cross-discipline IT experience with an increasing progression of responsibilities that includes work in systems design and technology selection
- 5+ years of experience in an expert-level role designing/architecting, implementing, and supporting MCM in a large, complex corporate environment
- 3+ years of experience with proven success leading the development of architectural strategies and roadmaps for solutions that solve business problems, are scalable, sustainable, secure, and meet internal long-term goals and KPI’s of IT and the business
- Experience creating professional documentation such as architectural diagrams, knowledge articles, project plans and other artifacts
- Solid understanding of endpoint management techniques. Experience with Microsoft security technologies such as Windows Defender, EDR and Enterprise Mobility + Security (EMS) is preferred
- Expert-level skillset of endpoint management technologies and operating system deployment utilizing MCM, Intune, Cloud Management Gateway and Windows Autopilot
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related discipline; or equivalent combination of technical training & industry experience
- Relevant industry certifications including Microsoft MCSE, M365, SSCM/MCM, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, and Azure Administrator
- Experience with Microsoft Azure and cloud-based technologies such as Windows Virtual Desktop
- Experience deploying virtualization and related technologies such as: Virtual Desktop Infrastructure, Microsoft Application Virtualization and Remote Desktop Services
- Solid working experience and knowledge with scripting languages such as PowerShell and SQL
- Hold a general understanding of compliance standards such as HIPPA, SOX and PCI DSS and experience incorporating these standards into technical solutions and processes
- Proficiency with ITIL fundamentals and practices
- Proven high degree of attention to detail and advanced problem-solving techniques to ensure highly accurate work and to minimize business interruptions
- Proven ability to effectively communicate clearly and often with all levels of internal and external customers and staff
- Proven cooperative and customer service-oriented mindset
- Proven solid organizational skillset and disciplined with time management
- Proven ability to perform a wide variety of tasks in a fast paced, deadline driven environment

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
