ULTRA MOBILE is seeking a talented Financial Data Scientist to join the Strategy & Analysis team! Individual reports to AVP, Strategy & Analysis. Role is remote – must reside in the United States. About The Role The Financial Data Scientist will play a crucial role in driving strategic decision-making by providing valuable insights through data analysis, model building, and automation. They will be responsible for leveraging their expertise in SQL, Python, Alteryx, and spatial analytics tools to support and enhance our business strategies. Identify how we should be investing our resources across the brands and Partner with the Commercial Owner for forecasting, budgeting, and strategic planning. The team will track the financial progress and make strategic recommendations to meet or exceed our company goals. As a Financial Data Scientist, you will work closely with cross-functional teams to provide critical insights, analysis, and recommendations that will influence our business strategies and decision-making processes. Your responsibilities will be grouped into four main categories: Your usual day of awesomeness includes: Economic Modeling and Analysis Develop, maintain, and enhance models for assessing Unit Economics, including revenue sources and costs. Analyze and interpret survival curve data to understand customer retention patterns. Investigate and quantify key business drivers and levers that impact profitability. Calculate and analyze price elasticity to optimize pricing strategies. Assess the impact of customer and market segmentation on business performance. Business Strategy and Growth Identify growth opportunities through data-driven analysis and experimentation. Evaluate areas for profitable growth and contribute to the improvement of ROC/ROI. Design and conduct experiments to test hypotheses and drive data-informed decisions. Measure the impact of initiatives on customer adoption and lift. Collaborate on retrospectives and create actionable playbooks for business improvement. Financial Reporting and Analysis Assist in revenue recognition and reporting revenue sources. Conduct cost analysis to optimize resource allocation. Collaborate on team upleveling initiatives and the creation of self-service SQL tools. Manage project archives and develop analysis frameworks to streamline decision-making. Cross-functional Collaboration and Communication Collaborate effectively with teams across the organization to gather data and insights. Communicate complex economic concepts and findings in a clear and concise manner. Work on team initiatives to improve skills, knowledge sharing, and data documentation. Share insights and expertise to contribute to data-driven decision-making across departments. What You Bring Strong proficiency in SQL for data extraction, manipulation, and analysis. Proficiency in Python for data processing, statistical analysis, and model development. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and presentation abilities. Experience in telecom or a related field is a plus. A collaborative and team-oriented mindset. Understanding industry and economic trends to navigate future uncertainties and guide profitable decision-making. A master’s or Ph.D. in economics, statistics, or a related field. (Preferred)
