This process ensures accurate reimbursement from insurance companies and government healthcare programs. Review and analyze inpatient medical records to ensure accurate coding. Assign appropriate codes for diagnoses, procedures, and treatments. Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation when necessary. Maintain compliance with federal coding rules and guidelines. Responsible for maintaining current knowledge of coding guidelines and relevant federal regulations using current ICD-10/CM/PCS and CPT-4 materials, the Federal Register, and other pertinent materials Making sure that codes are assigned correctly and sequenced appropriately as per government and insurance regulations. Complying with medical coding guidelines and policies Implementing strategic procedures and choosing strategies and evaluation methods that provide correct results Timely meetings with coding team to review progress on entry for all CPT codes. Necessary Skills and Strengths: Medical Billing | ICD-10 | CPT Coding | EMR Systems | Medical Coding | CPC Certified | AR Follow Up | Accounts Receivable | Medical Terminology | EOB | Patient Customer Service | Coding Denials | Medical Collections | Inpatient Coding | ER Coding Core Experience: Medical Coding (3-5 years as a coder) CPC or CCS Certified Inpatient Coding Hospital Coding (Short Term Acute Coding) ER Coding Experience Candidates with Ambulatory or outpatient experience is also a plus (in addition to inpatient experience) Proficiency in assigning ICD-10-CM/PCS codes for inpatient diagnoses and procedures. Familiarity with CPT codes. Strong understanding of medical terminology, disease processes, and pharmacology. Certifications: Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA).
