- Knowledge of IMS Controls Blocks (DBDs, PSBs, ACBs).
- Knowledge of IMS Database Recovery Control (DBRC) concepts and RECON datasets.
- Should be able to handle the annual Disaster Recovery (DR) exercise activities.
- Sound knowledge about IMS Logging – OLDS; SLDS; WADS;RLDS.
- Command Codes: Concepts and usage of different command codes.
- Both Type 1 and Type 2 IMS commands and various IMS Utilities.
- Working knowledge of IMS Upgrades.
- Checkpoint – Restart: Difference between Basic and Symbolic Check pointing and corresponding Restart logic.
- Secondary Indexing concepts.
- Fast path database processing concept: Main Storage Databases (MSDBs) and Data Entry Databases (DEDBs).
- Difference between DLI and BMP modes.
- Different access methods: HDAM, HIDAM, PHDAM, PHIDAM etc…
- Design, code and maintain DBMS system exits.
- Performance analysis & tuning for DBMS subsystems.
- IMS Monitoring Tool- Proficient- Required Monitoring tool.
- Proficient in JCL, TSO/SDSF/JES2/SYSVIEW/SMP/E.
- The ability to manage small groups, lead projects and coordinate multiple tasks under time and resource constraints.
- The ability to deal with complex problems and issues and then be able to propose intelligent practical solutions.
- The ability to prioritize workloads effectively to meet changing business needs.
