Databank’s Senior Cloud Engineer is responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting our public and private cloud infrastructure and related systems. As a member of the engineering team, you will collaborate with other highly skilled technical staff responsible for designing, building, and running the Cloud computing environment. This position’s primary responsibilities will be primarily focused on maintaining our diverse core infrastructure. This role is also responsible for virtual networking, storage, backup, and OS/application layers related to Databank’s cloud product offering. This hands-on technical role will require daily interaction with our cloud computing, networking, storage, backup, and related systems in a 24×7 operation. Your goal will be to meet and exceed the company’s SLA requirements, maintain a highly available and redundant platform, adhere to industry best practices and procedures for its operation, and bring new and innovative solutions to the challenges presented in a multi-datacenter environment. Our ideal candidate must be self-managing, able to prioritize projects and tasks, meet deadlines and communicate statuses to senior leadership within the company. This position occasionally requires work after business hours during change management activities or customer outages and requires on-call duties on a rotational basis. These events may or may not occur during any normally scheduled day. The Senior Cloud Engineer will report to the Director of Cloud Solutions Engineering but work closely with Cloud Architecture, Cloud Services, and Customer Support and Networking teams. Responsibilities Design, deploy, manage, and document cloud infrastructure consisting of multiple vendors, locations, and technologies to maintain product standards Works with business leaders to determine requirements of a Cloud environment or customer implementation and provides design documentation to achieve desired outcomes Create and manage standards and procedures related to deployments, upgrades, and general maintenance of the environment Complete deployment projects on time and be able to work cross-functionally to achieve goals Actively participate in technical meetings with internal and external stakeholders representing cloud engineering and provide new infrastructure options to organizational leaders Assess the scope and impact of incidents and respond with a sense of urgency that matches the incident, following appropriate policies and procedures Provide technical recommendations to the business while operating within defined budgeting guidelines Deploy and maintain large-scale automation and orchestration of Cloud build and maintenance activities Perform capacity and performance analysis of the environments to ensure stability and support for additional growth Report on capacity and performance trends to help set short and long-term budgets Work with networking team to manage connectivity to multiple physical and logical locations and storage networking Assist with training other team members to perform regular tasks Develop and document Managed Hosting standards and best practices for processes, procedures, and technical standards Follow strict privacy regulations to prevent data leaks to non-authorized personnel by implementing findings from frequent audits Take on-call rotations and respond to any system failures, 24×7, after-hours, or otherwise required Research and development of products, processes, procedures, and technologies that impact Databank business operations based on market and technology needs Required Skills Have experience in a broad spectrum of technologies, including enterprise computing, network, storage, and backup technologies, high availability solutions, and virtualization technologies Have experience designing, building, supporting, and resolving complex issues in an enterprise-class cloud architecture in a mission-critical environment Experienced in building new enterprise compute, network, and storage infrastructure from POC (proof of concept) to launch and provide ongoing maintenance/administration Experience developing product guides, asset management, data protection, capacity, performance, and lifecycle management Have a strong networking skillset and can troubleshoot virtual networks, host access, and monitoring protocols like SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol) and SMI-S Effectively communicate with multiple vendors to source and price hardware, software, support contracts, and troubleshoot issues Proactive, upbeat, and collaborative communication style that can be direct, tactful, courteous, considerate, and transparent Be a self-motivated, independent engineer able to work with little supervision and meet deadlines consistently Have good written and verbal communication skills including writing technical documentation Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills Manage conflict and challenging situations with positive outcomes for the clients and the company Ability to multi-task, prioritize, manage workloads, and adapt to changing business conditions Have experience working in a data center environment Have a firm grasp of data security best practices with regards to data integrity and theft Preferred Skills Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field preferred; equivalent experience can be substituted A minimum of four (4) years in enterprise-class virtualization, network, and storage technologies A minimum of four (4) years scripting Bash, PowerShell, Python, or others.
