The Sr. Java Developer role is to write, code, test, and analyze software programs and applications. This includes analyzing requirements, designing, documenting, and modifying software specifications throughout the production life cycle. You will also analyze and amend software errors in a timely and accurate fashion and provide status reports where required. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Assist developers, analysts, and designers in conceptualizing and development of new software programs and applications. Write programming scripts to enhance functionality and/or appearance of applications as necessary. Conduct research on emerging application development software products, languages, and standards in support of procurement and development efforts. Recommend, schedule, and perform software improvements and upgrades. Will be expected to perform a variety of complex tasks and may lead and direct the work of others. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected as part of the job performance and will need to rely on judgment and experience to accomplish goals. Liaise with network administrators, systems analysts, and software engineers to assist in resolving problems with software products or company software systems. Assist in the preparation and documentation of program requirements and specifications. Collaborate with application owners to review and understand requirements. Consistently write, translate, and code software programs and applications according to specifications. Run and monitor software performance tests on new and existing programs for the purposes of correcting errors, isolating areas for improvement, and general debugging. Administer critical analysis of test results and deliver solutions to problem areas. Requirements: Job Qualifications – Education and Experience: 5+ years of experience and at least 3 years of Java/J2EE Web Development experience in a WebSphere environment particularly in eCommerce development. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in the field of computer science preferred, or software engineering or equivalent work experience. Assist and train more junior developers. Self-starter and team player able to work independently, always willing to learn new technologies. Proven experience in overseeing the direction, development, and implementation of software solutions. Detail-oriented approach to the work. Experienced in web apps and batch process development, security mitigations, testing frameworks and empathetic code reviews. Any DevOps development and collaboration experience is a big plus. Extensive knowledge developing applications in Java/J2EE environment using JSP, EJB, Tag Libraries. Must have experience in working with web application frameworks (MVC) like Spring (Spring Batch, Spring MVC), Struts, Hibernate. Strong ability to write complex T-SQL Stored Procedures and queries. Deep understanding of relational database concepts. Big plus using SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) and SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS). Good understanding of Web Services, RESTful API, RSS Feeds, SOAP Technology, Jersey and tools like Postman. Good understanding of basic web skills like HTML, DHTML, JavaScript / jQuery, CSS (sass, less). Good understanding of Web Application servers & Servlet Containers like IBM-WebSphere, Apache-Tomcat. Demonstrate strong, problem solving, communication, organizational, time management, and multi-tasking skills. Flexible and adaptable in regard to learning and understanding new technologies. This position will work under minimal general supervision and report to our App Development Manager. The anticipated salary range for this position is $123,600– $185,500 depending on location, knowledge, skills, education and experience. This position is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus.
