The Role
We’re looking for a Platform Engineer to join our software team. You’ll be instrumental in building and enhancing our development infrastructure, focusing on automation, continuous integration and DevOps to accelerate our engineering processes. We’ll need you to be self-directed, working closely with the rest of the team to identify the best use of your time.
In return, you’ll have the opportunity to help telephone network operators reduce their CO2 emissions, remove their reliance on diesel, and make their networks more sustainable. Working alongside experts in software, telecoms and data science, you will develop skills across a broad mix of technologies; gain experience of handling huge volumes of data and learn to rapidly iterate in a high-performance software team.
Some examples of projects you’ll have the opportunity to tackle:
- Enhancing CI/CD pipelines for new microservices
- Improving observability practices to support application troubleshooting
- Overseeing deployment of open-source tools into our expanding toolkit
- Developing internal tools to support rapid prototyping and testing
- Implementing advanced monitoring systems to proactively manage system health
About You
We’re considering applicants with a range of skills and backgrounds. Some of the things we are looking for include:
- 4-6 years of experience in Platform Engineering, DevOps, or related fields
- Experience with both container orchestration (k8s) and serverless (lambda) infrastructure on AWS
- Expertise in workflow automation and IaC (we use GitHub Actions, Helm and Terraform)
- Desirable: Familiarity with our primary programming languages: TypeScript and Python
- Desirable: Exposure to data engineering tools such as Spark, Airflow and Grafana
- Joy in independent problem solving
We value people who are self-directed, can independently manage their time, and take pride in delivering high-quality work. Experience of telecoms is not necessary, and we’re not precious about technology stack – we care more about your ability to learn than your specific current knowledge.
About Us
We’re a fully distributed team, though we meet regularly in person when circumstances allow for it. We’ll choose locations that are easy to get to for all members, likely in London. We keep in close contact on video and rely on each other every day. We offer generous compensation, holiday allowance, pension and equity. We’re flexible with work and family always comes first.
As an early stage startup, our problems are hugely varied, and we aim to support continuous learning in any area that might be of interest to you. We support the professional development of our team in whatever ways work best. We follow agile development practices, with all the ceremonies you’ll be familiar with, and you’ll be working daily on problems with immediate application and impact for our clients.
