Join our Cloud Platform Infrastructure Group – Linux Infrastructure team Our team is part of Cloud Platform Infrastructure Group, developing distributed systems that support Akamai’s large global network. At the core of Akamai infrastructure, we work on complex and exciting systems that are available 24/7. Partner with the best As a Senior Software Engineer II, you will be an integral part of a globally-distributed development team that builds, maintains, and secures over 800 packages that constitute Akamai’s custom Linux distribution. As a Software Engineer Senior II, you will be responsible for- Integrating and enhancing FIPS-compliant cryptographic solutions for Akamai operating systems (e.g. disk encryption, SSH, etc). Collaborating with Open Source developers to upstream enhancements to relevant projects. Co-owning Akamai Linux distribution and build environments used by many Akamai teams. Porting Akamai modifications to newer versions of Akamai Linux distributions. Debugging and fixing issues found in a variety of testing and production environments. Collaborating closely with Linux kernel development and testing teams. Do What You Love To be successful in this role you will- Have 5 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent Be proficient in software development in C and associated build systems (e.g. gcc, ld, make), including use of diff/patch/quilt utilities for patch management. Have good understanding of applied cryptography and systems security (OpenSSL, OpenSSH, LUKS full-disk encryption). Demonstrate knowledge on Linux and OS fundamentals (booting/system startup, disk partitioning, package management) Have understanding of Network protocols (TCP/UDP/IP, Ethernet, SSH) Be a motivated self-starter who enjoys collaborating with a globally-distributed team but is capable of working independently. Compensation Akamai is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The base salary for this position ranges from $134,466 – $214,782/year; a candidate’s salary is determined by various factors including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and location. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of annual bonus or incentives, equity awards and an Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP).
