THE OPPORTUNITY

We are hiring a Senior Software Engineering Manager for our CODE team in Brazil !

As a Senior Software Engineering Manager , you will lead some of our growth-focused teams, guiding tech leads and fostering an environment of technical excellence and strong team dynamics. Your role is pivotal in shaping the engineering and product development landscapes, ensuring that our technical strategies align seamlessly with business objectives. You will develop a vision for the CODE Ecosystem, drive architecture decisions that impact our entire development interactions, and work with cutting-edge technologies on a global scale.

CODE is an acronym for Consumer Digital Experience, which means we’re in charge of the experience and services that will guide people’s wellbeing journey. Our main goal in CODE is to make wellbeing universal. From knowing about Wellhub and getting access to exclusive benefits to using our vast partner’s network, it is in the end-user experience.

CODE teams are responsible for developing and maintaining Wellhub’s App, frontend, backend services, and design system. We work closely with product, UX, and data teams to create an excellent experience for our platform’s users.

YOUR IMPACT

  • Develop and communicate a clear vision for the CODE Ecosystem, ensuring alignment across all engineering teams;
  • Drive architecture decisions that impact our entire CODE development interactions, setting standards for performance, scalability, and resilience;
  • Oversee and mentor tech leads, providing guidance on architectural decisions, establishing technical standards, and recommending tools and methodologies that enhance collaborative and efficient outcomes;
  • Support existing systems by enhancing functionality, increasing scale, and transforming them to meet our product demands;
  • Work in a collaborative and agile environment that prioritizes people over process and is laser-focused on productivity;
  • Work with cutting-edge technologies and edge cases on a global scale;
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Product Management, to ensure that engineering efforts align with product goals and business strategies;
  • Act as a bridge between the engineering teams and other stakeholders, facilitating clear and effective communication;
  • Drive data-driven decision-making processes, ensuring that metrics and KPIs guide engineering priorities and resource allocation;

Main requirements

WHO YOU ARE

  • You are a technical professional with a passion for software and product development;
  • You are accountable for your decisions and possess a high level of ownership over the products you are delivering;
  • You are proactive, innovative, and data-driven, value facts and data when making product decisions;
  • Expertise with at least two programming languages, such as Java, Scala, Python, Ruby, JavaScript, or Golang;
  • Expertise with SQL/NoSQL technology such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, DynamoDB, understanding common use cases and performance pitfalls;
  • Solid experience dealing with event-driven architectures and message brokers such as RabbitMQ, KAFKA, ActiveMQ, etc, and an in-depth understanding of their use cases and pitfalls;
  • Experience in managing managers of software engineering teams;
  • Versed in concepts such as DDD, SOLID, Design Patterns, distributed systems, and architecture. Capable of understanding pitfalls and anticipating common failure modes of a microservice environment;
  • Experienced in implementing prototypes and in practices and concepts such as MVP, A/B testing, and feature toggles for rolling out features to production;
  • Strong communication skills: able to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders in English and Portuguese;
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent professional experience;
