Job Summary: Senior Software Engineer on our Pensions product, you will be responsible for making architectural decisions and developing code associated with the core application and platform This position includes analyzing, designing, programming, unit testing, implementing, and maintaining retirement applications to meet customer requirements using existing languages (Pl/SQL, JAVA) – superior knowledge of the Oracle DBMS (database management system) is required. You will work with the Pensions team to advise and mentor other staff on established patterns and consult clients as part of implementation projects. Duties and Responsibilities: Design, develop, and maintain Java and PL/SQL-based applications, ensuring alignment with business and system requirements. Implement and optimize business logic using PL/SQL packages, stored procedures, functions, and triggers alongside Pension’s Proprietary Tools. Analyze application requirements and translate them into efficient program code. Convert requirements into comprehensive system designs and technical specifications. Conduct code analysis, troubleshooting, and debugging to resolve programming issues. Perform rigorous unit testing to ensure code meets business needs and technical standards. Innovate and enhance application features and functionalities in line with requirements. Develop and manage robust databases and applications for optimal performance. Create and maintain effective application programming interfaces (APIs). Test software for responsiveness and efficiency, and upgrade as necessary. Establish and maintain security protocols and data protection measures. Develop mobile-responsive application features and interfaces. Document technical processes and software architecture. Collaboratively define project deliverables and timelines with the Technology Team. Stay abreast of and integrate emerging technologies and conduct internal training to disseminate knowledge. Perform other duties as assigned. Knowledge and Experience: Requires a university degree or equivalent in Computer Sciences Minimum of 5 years of experience Skills and Abilities: Requires advanced Oracle PL/SQL and JAVA experience. Experience with some or all the following technologies: JSP, Servlets, JSON, XML, XSLT, SVG, JDBC, SOAP, WSDL, Websockets an asset. GIT, Oracle OCI (Cloud), and UNIX BASH Scripting. Has worked within a version control management system such as Git. Experience with report writers, data conversion, considered assets. Excellent communication skills. Highly motivated and team player. Problem-solving and analytical skills. Leadership experience. Prior Pension experience in the pension or financial services industry would be an asset.
